HAS 106.7 LOST IT'S MOJO

So I used to listen to 106.7 a lot. Now, they've screwed up their music. Where I
once enjoyed 8 out of 10 songs, now I'm lucky to like 1 out of 5. That is what I think is
hurting them the most. I don't listen for the DJs, I listen for the music.

Not sure if they changed music directors or what but someone/something has driven a nail
into their balloon and they better plug it fast.

I agree completely............... ???

I totally agree too and thanks to Cumeless .... er I mean Cumulus it's only going to get worse.

While I prefer True Oldies channel and long for it's return, Cumulus has had nothing to do with the music up till now.

I'm switching to The River if for nothing else than to get away from having to hear Prince 4 times an hour on 106.7.

WYAY does not play 90s music. There may be some tracks from the late 80s that seem like it, but I don't see any. Journey doesn't play 60s and 70s, does it?

I think the station looks like they have the right idea (mostly 70s/80s classic hits with occasional 60s), but it needs to be more focused and the playlist needs to be tightened up (that's something you don't hear much!).

Maybe the fact that everyone, including the radio geeks that troll this site, are completely confused by the music on WYAY says it all.

I heard Journey play "Heart of Glass", which was from 1979. I guess they pepper in songs from the very late 70's.

Correct, WYAY plays very little 90s, except for some 80s-leftover type hits. Journey doesn't play anything outside the 80s and 90s, except for some 70s New Wave (the aforementioned Blondie and The Knack), and some obvious songs by Journey (the band), and some early-Aughties 90s leftovers.

IMO WYAY has started playing a lot more 1960s, especially Beatles. "More Beatles" is just a gateway drug and before you know it, you're hooked on "good times and eight oldies"....they need to watch out before they go the way of Fox 97 and Kool 105.7.

Meanwhile, River is going the opposite direction with the "Rock Blocks", going deeper and harder. They have taken on a full classic-rock/AOR sound and dumped the Stevie Wonder and Elton John.

Since Blondie's most popular body of work is from the 1980's, that could be why Journey can get away with playing a Blondie song from '79...

I don't know how else to respond to this except:

"...one I wrote when I had first been introduced to pot... So [it's] really a song about that, it's not to a person..."

;D
