See, Bon Jovi was on active rock. Did Zeta play any '80s Bon Jovi songs (Livin' On A Prayer, You Give Love A Bad Name, etc.)? Now, there are no Miami stations that play Bon Jovi's latest "Have A Nice Day." Does 93 Rock play Bon Jovi?
Edited by PassDutch on 08/04/05 04:46 PM.

Y-100 would be the station most likely to play Have a nice day.

Keep in mind that when songs like "Livin On A Prayer" were current, Bon Jovi was one of the hottest bands in the music industry. They had the #1 selling album in the country. You would expect them to be all over the radio and they were.

Today, Bon Jovi has more limited appeal. Current product from a band like that may fill a niche on some stations, but it doesn't surprise me that no station in Miami is playing "Have a Nice Day".

As I recall there was quite a backlash once Bon Jovi morphed from rockers to MTV stars. Rock stations were (and still are) targeted toward males. Once your little sister bought the poster, it was over.

Many 80's rock/pop artists were jettisoned permanently from rock stations during the 90's. The breakout of Alternative music was in part due to backlash against what was "mainstream rock" at the time (Poison, Winger, insert hair band here). Those that survived did so by seeking airplay on female-skewing Hot AC or Pop/CHR stations (like Y-100).
