Has anyone noticed? lafayette area

I know it's not radio, but has anyone noticed the horrible suits that jeff smith wears during the news cast on WLFI. It seems he picks the WORST things to wear on tv. His suits give me a headache...

Sad, but his suits are sometimes the best part of the newscast. Just like radio, you need good competition to keep you sharp. LFI continues to embarass themselves with their constant mistakes, lack of talent and poor production qualities. I know it is a starting ground for up and coming tv broadcasters but I have seen tv in markets this size and smaller that are a thousand percent better than TV18. If anyone can sit through any of the sportscasters or a Mike Prangley weather forecast, I guess you don't really care what you watch.

But back to what you originally brought up, they do play havoc with your vision.

Word on the street is that Gina and Jeff have both resigned, and are just sticking around until a couple new anchors are hired.

Also, has anyone noticed the new music and graphics? The graphics seem to be an upgrade... but OMG, the music is down right awful. It honestly sounds like they got it from one of those old cheesy sound fx cd's from the 90's.

I think many of WLFI's techincal problems have to do with them being in direct competition with their sister station, WISH-TV in Indianapolis. Many of the glitches you see on WLFI's analog and digital (especially digital) channels are those you don't see on any other station controlled from the WISH-TV master control hub. Plus, the brightness of their picture quality has increased gradually over time and has now become so overwhelming that Gina almost looks ghostly during the 11pm news.

Their news product, with the exception of the weekends, is great for a market the size of Lafayette, IMO. I'm indifferent with the music. It could be a little more hard-hitting, but I wasn't too crazy for the former choice, either.

And I hate to knit pick, ever notice how Kathryn Dolan sounds like she's chewing her cheek while she's talking... I think she thinks she sounds more "newsy" anywho...

Most cities Lafayette's size don't have their own TV station. Maybe, we should feel we
are lucky to have our own Channel 18.

I wish Purdue would put a PBS station on the air here! Isn't Purdue the only state university
that doesn't have it's own channel. And, they were the pioneers! In the 1960s, they had a
TV station from an airplane that could be seen in several states.

Purdue not having a PBS station surprises me as well. For years, there's been a vacant non-commercial channel reserved for Lafayette on channel 24. Given the amount of television productions Purdue produces, I would have figured the university would have jumped at the chance to put a television station on the air.

Maybe the MPATI experiment still leaves a sour taste in the trustee's mouths. ???

Indiana University - WTIU, Vincennes - WVUT, Ball State - WIPB are the only schools operating public TV stations
