streaming audio is omitting commercials? I am not an industry insider. How would advertisers feel about this? P.S. Does WKDF stream live? I couldn't find a link on their website...............Doug "NashRadio"<P ID="edit"><FONT class="small">Edited by NashRadio on 01/30/06 08:58 PM.</FONT></P>

GFX has to omit the spots in the internet stream.

Remember a few years ago when every station stopped streaming? It was because the union of voice people (or NAMBLA) was upset that the people voicing the commericals were only getting paid the amount for airing in their original market. However, the internet makes every spot a national spot, so suddenly the H.G. Hills guy deserves more money.

So radio put a stop to all streaming. In the past year or so, the technology has been made available where a station's stream will go dark while in a stop set, and replace it with whatever they want (like spots produced in house, bits, or promos).

Isn't NAMBLA an acronym for something other than the announcers' union?

I do believe NAMBLA is National Man-Boy Love Association. I think most V.O. people belong to AFTRA.

Just wanted to clarify this...

I thought NAMBLA was the North American Marlon Brando Lookalike Association (and there's a VERY funny South Park episode about this acronym, BTW).

Yes, it's an organization of child molesters. Apparently, he considers being in a union the same as child-rape. Nice.

*Rimshot*

Doesn't anyone watch The Daily Show? Its a long running joke...anytime they have a group or something that is usually referred to as an acronym, they refer to said group by its full name then follow that with "or NAMBLA".
