Has "Bob" checked out?

After 38 years as a broadcast licensee, one could hardly think that I have built a house of cards, Old Crow, so I am offended by your comments. I believe I know you from when you were at KILT many years ago. I see we feel the same about each other.
Of note, Bob-FM returns later today.
Roy Henderson

Nice to hear from you Roy. I enjoyed working with you even though a couple paychecks were a few days late. You were a nice guy to work for but hiring Clay Gish when he was out of his mind on drugs was a mistake. I wish you luck.

Hi Radio Girl...where is Hot Country 102.5?

Here are the links concerning Clay Gish who became Gishelle Gish:

WTF did I just watch? Half way through the pics you could tell a change was coming because the eyeliner was getting thicker and thicker.

This is so funny. You guys are always bashing Henderson and Dallas guys are always trying to figure out why Ron Chapman got rich.

Funny, I had no problem figuring out why Chapman got rich......He got paid well for all the years on KLIF/KNUS then KVIL and finally KLUV..and he invested wisely...also had a TV show iirc...
There's no secret on Chapman period....

Okay..that's fine and good, but back to the subject...does anyone know if "BOB of the Woodlands" is back on the air or is it still dark? Anyone working there today?

I dont know, I cant pick up BOB normally unless Im driving through the Woodlands/Conroe area...and I think the lack of response shows how much anyone else cares if its back on :)

I believe it is back up. I can receive a mix of 2 AC stations on 105.3 at my place out in Katy (Mix of what I believe to be BOB & KSMG).

Not sure why KSMG is so prevalent in Houston. According to radio-locator, BOB should put a listenable signal into Katy...and it doesn't.

Bob is indeed back on the air. Of note, on the way to work in Houston this morning KTWL was annihalated by KPTI/Crystal Beach starting just north of BW 8 in Jersey Village. Now tell me, if KTWL's signal can't even make it to Jersey Village from Hempstead on a consistent basis, how can they ever expect to fully cover The Woodlands once the new, taller tower (with less power mind you) is built out. Someone was never explained what happens when you pee into the wind.

CW, you are a riot. I was thinking along the same lines as you. Bob stands for the "Best of the Best", and I guess for 3 days the best was silence. All 5 listeners left were thoroughly disappointed. I wonder if Ray Childress would be interested in buying the station and turning it into the "Lawrence Marshall Radio Network"? At least then the station licensed to Hempstead would actually have something to do with its COL.

On a serious note, what happens to the tag line "The Woodlands exclusive radio station" when KRCM comes on the air? Of course, that's another fiasco in itself considering I was just off of Tamina road yesterday and I didn't see anything resembling an antenna being built anywhere in sight.

KSMG is in a good spot for ducting....especially along the Gulf Coast (which happens a lot :) IF you believe the maps on Radio-Locator I have some sea shore land in AZ to sell ya!!! :)
Instead, here is the REAL 60dbu (1mV) or listenable contour of BOB:
http://www.fcc.gov/fcc-bin/FMTV-service-area?x=FM287631.html

And the predicted coverage after the "upgrade":
http://www.fcc.gov/fcc-bin/FMTV-service-area?x=FM1133347.html

See the Woodlands or Katy anywhere at or inside those circles?? (BTW that is also 50/50 chance of 60dbU...so reliable reception is INSIDE that circle...in a car, you may hear it farther but NOT in stereo and NOT without interference.....the 1 mV or 60dbU/service contour is guaranteed no-interference from cohannel...outside that, all bets are off ;)

Radio Locators maps are based on LOCAL = 60dbu and Distant = 50dbU...where ALL professional and the FCC calls 70dbu or 3.16mV is local or CITY Grade...where you can hear it on a table top radio.....WELL inside what Radio-Locator shows as local..

Oh gosh....go on....you made me blush!!!! ;D
LOL I think Lawrence Marshall would be better than Lawrence Welk :)

AHHHH and as to KRCM, remember, they are licensed to Shenendoah, not the Woodlands (but then neither is BOB....Oh my gawd there I go again ;)

Gosh, CW!
You write like a drag.

Oh so we are making personal cuts now are we??? Can't win in the technical end, huh so its time to try another way to make yourself seem better than others (and I must have hit a nerve).....Roy, you're showing your real stripes and that's pathetic. And I write like a drag??? How so? Gee I never knew how a drag writes (never even knew a drag personally).......so evidently you know more about that subject than I do.

(Cant stand the heat?? Get out of the kitchen)

Gee, next time I'm driving through Navasota (not a very likely occurrence) I'll have to see if I can pick up Bob, unless they are having one of their dead air weekends.

Is that kinda like an all 80s weekend, or British invasion weekend? I like those ;)

Yeah you MIGHT hear it before you get out of Conroe but it will have major flutter and not be in stereo (not in Cleveland for sure, where there is a LPFM on 105.3).....but with summer ducting, chances are KSMG could be blasting in there from the west...or even KPTI from the beach OR the talk 105.3 out of Dallas.....by the time you get to Navasota, you'll probably be finding something else to listen to...

i can hear magic 105.3 clear to south austin on my walkman radio. In the car, I can listen to magic 105.3 in houston but barely it is a strong signal i heard that you can hear that station all the way to dallas. on a normal day on a car stereo you can pick up krbe all the way to columbus on i-10 while some others drop off in sealy.

92.9, 94.5, 95.7, 96.5, 97.9, 99.1, 100.3, 101.1, 102.1 and 104.1 all broadcast from the Mo City farm at 2000ft....all other Houston stations are on different sticks at lower heights...Most of the time, they make it to Columbus unless there is co channel interference from SA or Austin...105.3 out of Seguin does NOT make it to Dallas...Dallas has their own 105.3 on a 1500ft tower in Cedar Hill (SW of Dallas) and covers well down to Madisonville or so...105.3 KTWL is south of Navasota and barely covers any major population area......trying to claim it was a Woodlands station is like claiming KLBJ is a San Antonio station...aint gonna (or rather DIDNT :) happen.
