Has bobfm?

They might play Metallica...if 38 year-old married suburban women liked Metallica. That's Bob's target audience.I'm guessing you're significantly younger than that. And of the opposite sexual persuasion.

Thats what they told me might play it but when? I understand that.Yes i am younger than 38. Yep.

YEAH! METALLICA!Actually, in the times I've listened to Bob it was a bit harder, usually, than I had expected. Everyone is trying to figure out the Jack format- so let me ask the board-Would it be more of a Top 40 from a previous generation- which was a bit more diversified than what passes for pop music today- ORWould it be more of "Gen X cleans out their record collection- and it's a bit more diverse than we thought?"

My wife is 36 and loves Metallica, so I suppose BOB will be playing it in 2 yrs.(Metallica fans, alas, like the rest of us, keep on getting older)I am personally waiting till "Stairway to Heaven" breaks into the playlist forWJAS/1320 The Music of Your Life!

I've already heard elevator muzak covers of Stairway to Heaven, Layla, and Free Bird in the background at shopping malls. And, if memory serves, those same muzak style versions were also played on the elevator music stations shortly before the last one changed format. I'm genuinely curious about how anyone is going to program radio stations in the years to come when everyone seems to be convinced that songs must be selected based on the era in which they were recorded in order to appeal to certain age groups. What songs will they play to appeal to 30 somethings two decades from now since a large number of teenagers right now listen to stations that play mostly songs from previous eras?

By then, terrestrial radio will be a memory and the bandwidth will have been re-allocated to some other purpose, so the question is really moot.
