Has Capt. Humble left the building?

I can't hear him where I work, but he's not on the website...

Wxvanessamd; you are correct he resigned from the station due to reasons that only Cap can elaborate on. I asked with him why so the jist of it is poor management,(I.E. Starr's ownership of KTIB), problems not being adressed. As for complaints posted about his radio show on the board you can't blame him. He has to deal with a board opperator who makes a first time DJ at a college or highschool radio station sound more professional, and remote broadcasting equipment that proably dates back to the 80's. the station would not spring for an ISDN line. Finally station management wanted to move his show back to the studio away from his restaruant knowing he can't leave because lunch time is his most busiest time. He said that he hated to do it but unfortunately he had to.

P.S. Cap; Mom says that was one hell of a Po-Boy.

Good news bad news with Captain setting sail. Good news is that there is one less horrible show on the air but the bad news is that the replacement to Capt. will be unairable radio. 990am should shut their doors. My guess is that it is only a matter of time before Croure, Clancy, and Cyrus have the plug pulled on them. There is no chance they ever show up in Arbitron. Starr will get frustrated within 2 years of no ratings and sell the station or bankruptcy will be upon them.

Was nice to hear him a couple of times. Checked 990's website and he's been wacked. He had a great "YouTube" clip in a blog about a crackhead singing "Amazing Grace". Like to fell out my pirogue. Good luck with your restaurant, Cap!

His show was not as bad as you think. The problem was management, antique remote equipment, no ISDN line, and a bad in studio board operator. So before you slam Cap go hear his side of the story.

Sad enough New Orleans radio Post-Katrina has all but been trashed: now, Capt. Humble is gone! And New Orleans area radio audiences will miss him, as he pursues off-air business.

My fondest radio memories in the 70s came from listening to Capt. Hum on WRNO when the station was in it's prime. Capt. Hum has that timeless voice-style that no one ever can copy; the man was a true legendary original--and a sterling professional broadcaster who made New Orleans radio great.

When radio is in your blood and spirit--it's ever hard to cold stone leave it. It's been 18 years since I worked on-air....and to this day--a week don't go by I miss the biz....the way it was.

You'll be missed by immense thousands of admiring listeners, Capt. Humble--God bless and good luck to ya!

Thousands? hahahahahahahahahahaha

That's rich, kinda like you'd have to be to buy one of Cap't Humbles poo-boys
