Has CHR hit it's peak already?

I'm doing a end of class project "Create-A-Station" and none of my students picked a pop-oriented CHR.

It's all Rhythmic, Alternative or CCM (or variations of the 3). We're talking middle America suburban white high school kids. The past few years, I have had to "flip" stations because so many wanted CHR/Mainstream.

Could be...but that must have happened overnight. I handed them printouts of major format charts and had them decided which one to work with. I'm looking at this week's chart, and not seeing the turnoff except maybe the softness of Christina Perri and Plain White T's type stuff.

Good news is they are very creative in the approach to formats, a lot of hybrids that sound fresh. That's what happens when you get new blood to think about programming without the years of "experience."
