Has Dr Phil jumped the shark?

Wow, watching a feud about iguanas today. What a mess. First, who cares? Second, my guess is these stories are made up by the writers, or atleast exaggerated by the writers. But I am watching so I guess it works.

I believe his last first run episode will be on or around Wednesday, May 24th.

The reason his final first run episode may be on that date is that May 24th is the last day of both the May "sweeps" and the 2022/23 television season.

Dr. Phil isn't a Doctor he just plays one on TV and Phil is a know it all. Never was into his talk show only seen a couple of shows and that is about it.

Dr. Phil has a doctorate in clinical psychology.

Wikipedia, but sourced accurately.

McGraw graduated in 1975 from Midwestern State University with a B.A. in psychology. He went on to earn an M.A. in experimental psychology in 1976, and a Ph.D. degree in clinical psychology in 1979 at North Texas State University (now the University of North Texas),[6] where his dissertation was titled "Rheumatoid Arthritis: A Psychological Intervention."[7] He did a year of post-doctoral training in forensic psychology at the Wilmington Institute.[8] McGraw's doctoral advisor was Frank Lawlis, who later became the primary contributing psychologist for the Dr. Phil television show.[9]

Actually he does have a Doctorate in psychology. However, Dateline or one of the other similar news programs did a program about him several years ago. He's supposedly a real POS who took credit for his colleagues' work at times and always tried to be in the limelight. Dr. Phil always had a hunger for attention and fame, and some of his advice and guidance have been questionable at best. He wanted fame and attention, he found Oprah who's well-known for her appreciation for and support of quacks and snake oil remedies, there was $$$ in it for both of them, and the rest, as they say...is history.

This parody of them from Mad TV may not be too far from reality:
