"William Fox founded Fox Studios in 1913 producing the famous Movietone Newsreels. Growing rapidly, in 1916, Fox bought Selig Studio property at 1845 Alessandro, now Glendale Blvd. in order to expand.
Needing more expansion room, in 1928, Fox expanded their studios by moving to Century City on land that used to be the personal ranch of Western Movie Star Tom Mix.
In 1935, Fox merged with Twentieth Century Pictures which had been founded in 1933 by Daryll Zanuck after he left Warner Brothers. The company officially became Twentieth Century Fox
Over the years, 20th Century Fox has had contracts with such actors as: Shirley Temple, Loretta Young, Betty Grable, Marilyn Monroe, Tyrone Powers,Henry Fonda, Gregory Peck and many, many more. With recent sucesses like Star Wars ep 2 and X-Men, Fox continues to grow."
