Indeed Ent. does make some $ off having Howie affiliates, and are milking their demo for all they can as the highest rated all talk station in Boston. Since they are the only all talk station in Boston. Political talk that is. Boston has two all talk stations on FM and they're doing pretty well..
when it comes to SPORTS talk!

Prog talk radio does well--on NPR. Commercial prog talk can't competd with that. Outside of stations in Bangor (horrors! Stephen King) , Brattleboro, W Mass etc it's not on comm. radio because of the competition from NPR.If Ent. could have made $ from the We Love Sen. Warren crowd they would have done that. And again we'll see if RKO and Howie stay together..or does Howie do an onlind show like Ordway.

Except it's not really progressive talk in the conventional sense. It's mainly long-form news programming.

Good point; I will say Ent. did try prog talk on their 680 in Memphis and for many yrs on WWKB 1520 in Buffalo. CBS (Seattle),Clear Channel and other companies did as well

Jerry Williams preached on a regular basis the two things that would eventually kill off talk radio - boring and predictable. Clearly,that applies to Right-wing talk radio [I know what else is there?]. The druggy - Rush Limbaugh - whose voice is hardly audible some days and Howie Carr could simply and do phone in their programs - Republicans are good "The DemoCRAT" Party is bad -

I guess you don't listen much, because they both rip Republicans. I don't often get a chance to hear Limbaugh because I have a day job, but when I do, RINOs like the chain-smoking orange crybaby are frequent targets.
