Has Kent Dana Finally Lost It?

What the heck is that suit jacket that he is wearing tonight??? A Christmas suit or something???

He looks silly. I guess it would be appropriate on MONDAY night (i.e. Christmas Eve), but it's only the 21st of December.

Then again, nobody watches KPHO anyway! :D :D

OK, Kent explained it later in the newscast, but -- good grief -- that Christmas jacket was ugly.

That being said, Kent and Sean were supposed to be the "saviors" of CBS 5 News. With the exception of the 10pm newscast (helped by CBS primetime, no doubt), what is going on over there??? Why is nobody watching their early newscasts and their morning newscast has abysmal ratings??

I like Kent Dana's Christmas jacket - it's a Phoenix tradition. He used to wear the jacket when anchoring the Christmas newscast with his father, Joe.

As mentioned before, a big part of the early evening KPHO problems are due to the big albatross around their neck -- The CBS Evening News With Katie Couric. Since Couric joined the CBS Evening News their ratings have plummeted to their lowest level in 20 years . This is killing the CBS affiliates nationwide. KPHO's evening problems are not unique among local CBS affiliates. Meanwhile former CBS viewers have gone over to Charlie Gibson at ABC which is now running neck and neck with NBC's evening news. This migration has benefited stations like 15 in Phoenix and many other ABC affiliates.

Much of this evening shift has little to do with the local affiliate news offerings or the talent. Still, if you have the loyal viewers you can make up some of the ground lost by the network's ineptitude. An example is 12's continued strong ratings at 10p despite NBC's totally abysmal primetime numbers. They are the only station in Phoenix that regularly builds on their lead-in numbers.

Beats me what the heck is happening to KPHO in the morning. But, here again, the CBS network morning show isn't exactly ripping up, and they are in the process of making changes.
