Has KFI relented to brokered programming?

Lohman and Barkley were I believe the only former hosts to survive the changing of the guard. Hudson and Landry came along later.

Aside from a couple of on-air personnel who stuck around for a couple of weeks and then either decided it wasn't for them or had management decide after hearing them on the air, you are correct.

"Emperor" Bob Hudson and Ron Landry had been doing mornings on KGBS when it was playing pop music but moved to KFI afternoons when KGBS went back to the country format in 1974 (it had been country from 1965 to 1970). I remember them doing a midday shift the Saturday before the studio move to 610 S. Ardmore ... they made a running gag out of whether or not certain commercials were going to run again later, or should they go ahead and pack the carts.

After KFI went full steam ahead top-40 under John Rook, H&L were replaced on the air and the act broke up. Hudson moved to Boston and resumed his solo radio career; Ron Landry wrote for TV sitcoms. Hudson died September 20, 1997 and Landry passed away September 16, 2002 (four days short of the fifth anniversary of Hudson's death).
