Has KLOU Named A New PD Yet?

Upon reading that former PD and afternooner Al Brock was looking for his next gig, I was trying to find out who the new, if not interim, PD is. Nothing listed, and there is a blank space next to the "Program Director" field on KLOU's "contact us" page.

Anyway, just a curiosity... I'm not trying to start any rumors - plus, since the station has been doing well in the ratings the last couple books, I wouldn't expect them to flip anytime soon. Then again, nobody expected WCBS-FM or WJMK to flip a couple months ago... I will say, it is neat that there's at least one oldies station serving as an NFL flagship (on the FM side).
______________

KLOU Named A New PD Yet?

Word is they're having one of their current folks oversee (babysit) KLOU.

Re: KLOU Named A New PD Yet?

Actually, we were given a memo a few weeks ago that announced KSLZ PD Tommy Austin as KLOU's new boss. I guess he'll be running both.

Z107.7 PD Tommy Austin also has the title of KLOU PD, with Dodie Rahlmann doing most of the work, just as he did under Al. At least Austin is man enough to admit Dodie does most of the work. Besides, Tommy's got another, much more active, station to run in Z.

They oughta name Rahlman PD. The guy has been at KLOU forever, and as I understand, has been pretty much programmng the station for awhile. Unless, CC is just holding the station up on life support until the bottom drops out for the Oldies format. I would imagine the current format will hold on at least through the football season this year. KLOU still has good 12+ ratings, still solid 25-54, but with well rated heratige stations like WJMK & WCBS getting blown up, I guess anything is possible. Since 106.5 already has the "whatever" format covered, I would wonder if they did indeed change, what they would go to. KLOU is cheap to run, and as long as CC can sell it, it will stick around.

I dunno... Has there ever been a battle between two FM talkers in a Top 25 market?
______________

This is sad. Top 20 market, heritage calls, Rams flagship and it's being babysat by the CHR pd and probably half voicetracked. Amazing.

Re: KLOU

Half? It's 2005. Most stations are voice tracked most of the time. Same with Sat radio and everything else. Market size is irrelevant, just economics matter now.

half? Not.

Sorry, Wes. You are wrong. "Most" stations are not voicetracked "most of the time".

Please do your homework.

Re: half? Not.

Ok you probably know better than I. Thanks for your comment that added no actual information, compared to my statement of fact. Possibly your station or cluster does not voice track, but most do.

Wes, my friend, don't waste your time with "OldiesCat". I've gone back and forth with him before, and here's what I have come to know about "OldiesCat"....
He thinks he's an expert on radio stations that play oldies, and when you disagree with him about whatever, he starts in with the "so where have you worked" crap. His "logic" is that if he's worked at more radio stations than you, and if he's done programming and you haven't, well then.......you're a clueless fool and he's a....Ahem!....."real genius".

So, like I said, don't waste your time going back and forth with "OldiesCat", he's not worth it!

still not

What "actual information" are YOU quoting?

"Most stations" are definitely NOT "voicetracked most of the time"? That's what you've stated- and, it is patently incorrect. Your new statement now refers to "clusters...most do(voicetrack)". It's not the same as your original post. In one posting you give me crap then, at the same time, back off your first claim.

Do MANY clusters voicetrack SOME of the time? That makes sense. But you're assuming most stations in America are technologically able to voicetrack- nost stations in the country ARE NOT owned by corporate giants and a surprising number still do not have ditital storage capability.

That being said, there aren't any "stats" to give an exact ratio but I am in a position to have access to big-picture information about the topic.

It's one thing to get on my case about not having "actual information" but neither did you. That's kind of like the pot calling the kettle black.

half? Not.

You are right- when you just try and B.S. your way around a point, I don't hesitate to call you on it (and I'm not alone on these boards, BTW).

It's one thing to make observations and opinions- that's what discussion boards are all about. But, when you make a statement as if it's factual and it is obviously false, it is the obligation of those who are fortunate enough to know better to speak up so those who are trying to learn something aren't B.S.ed by wannabees.

If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen.

You're not alone on these boards??

Huh? What?

Actually, now that you mention the "I'm not alone" bit.....I have noticed that you have ruffled the feathers of more than one poster in your time spent here on R-I.

You're annoying.

Yeah, okay. Whatever you say......"Einstein".

Re: half? Not.

Thanks for the advice. I'm certain OldiesCat is more than able to comment correctly on his cluster. However, I see a lot of stations that all use voice tracking ranging from a small amount to running the entire show. It's an argument neither of us can win because there are no stats.

What is ironic is I was trying to make a simple point about KLOU which is they aren't run worse than stations in other markets. It's a shame this had to turn into an argument. One stat we can all agree on is that MANY stations employ voicetracking, I should have left it at that.

Let's just agree to disagree on this.

Not.

OW! As usual, middle-school comebacks. I feel so defeated (LMAO).
