Has KOIT stopped 30 minute music sets

I have talked to a number of people who KOIT is only doing sets of 22 minutes even though they still occasionally mention it on the air. Doesn't this violate the truth in advertising law?

Hey! They could paraphrase WINS NY. "Give Us 22 minutes And We'll Give You The Music"

I often wondered about this...it always seemed like an awfully short 30 minutes!http://koit.tunegenie.com/pastonair/koit/1332914400000/
check out the 10am hour 26 minutes ... most hours seem to come up short. 27 - 29 minutes...
close but not one hour was 30+.

Well KOIT has to bow down to Advertisers one way or another during these minutes. But look at 1010 WINS or the old 980 KFWB they had billboards on the 5 and the 210 freeway in the 1980's and 1990's that said "You Give us 22 Minutes we Give you the World" At least within that 20 minute cycle 5-7 minutes is dedicated to commercials.

That's a little different - KFWB and WINS were saying that they would tell you everything important that was going on in the world if you would listen for 22 minutes...there was no promise of it being commercial free.

Implicit in KOIT's "Guaranteed 30 minute Music Set" slogan is that it's a half-hour of uninterrupted music (except for brief bumpers and station ID).

If you think about it though, even KOIT's main slogan "Light Rock, Less Talk" is probably no longer true. With all the CC stations voice-tracking everything and slipping in nothing but a single 10 second DJ comment every 4 songs - KOIT probably has MORE talk by comparison, these days.

KOIT can argue that they have local music DJ's like KFOG and KUFX has. Also I do know that KBLX has said that there's a 50 minute music set. That does not guarantee that they literally play music for 50 minutes straight they have to include commercials and DJ commentary in between the songs.

We're splitting hairs here, but -again - the implicit claim by any of these "___ minute music sets" or "X songs in a row..." or whatever, is that there are NO COMMERCIALS. A brief station ID bumper or quick DJ comment is different. Those only take a few seconds, not a few minutes.

Otherwise, if they can include commercials, they might as well include news and traffic reports, and call them "24/7 Music Sets."

When you "GUARANTEE" something you are giving your word that the claim is true.
That's the entire point of this thread. If Koit just said another half hour music set,
we wouldn't be having this discussion.
