Has KOOI Sunny 106 flipped to Classic Hits?

I don't think KOOI knows what it is. To me, it sounds like a mashup of Classic Hits, Adult Contemporary, and maybe even a little AAA and/or Classic Rock thrown in. IMO, they need to find a format and settle on it.
Example - one evening back in December I was flipping through the dial and caught them playing AC/DC's You Shook Me All Night Long. I never thought that I would ever hear AC/DC on 106.5, but there it was.

Hopefully KKMJ Majic 95.5 in Austin will follow suit, they used to do "Super Songs of the 70's weekend, along with All 80's Weekend.
Plus KKMJ's HD-2 channel is Oldies.

Maybe Clear Channel would flip Houston's KODA to this!!!

At one time, the John Tesh show had two versions. One was a version with music programmed while the other consisted of just his bits and allowed stations to drop in their own music. He's been on several different formats and in several different dayparts because those stations just took the talk part of his show. His most common formats have been AC and Christian, though he's even been on a few country stations.
I listened yesterday to KOOI's stream, and was pleasantly surprised to hear some really good classic hits music!!! This is a great change for the station, and yes it has dumped "Soft Rock" and become "The Greatest Hits Of All Time". This was a very interesting progression, I have to give Dru LaBorde credit this is really good! Perhaps the consultant's plan was to kill the soft rock and gently progress into Classic Hits?? But whoever's idea it is, it is brilliant to put classic hits on the most powerful FM signal in ETex!

This makes me wonder if Gleiser is regretting the decision to flip KDOK to KTBB-FM and go talk on 92.1 -- granted, I am acutely aware of the fact there's no comparison with signal. KOOI wins that one hands-down without question.
I'm eager to see how KOOI does with her new format.

Well remember that 92.1 IS NOT a full market signal, Gleiser was never able to sell in Longview Marshall or any of the nearby communities. It was and is barely a Tyler only station! With the major blowtorch of East Texas doing this it could be extrememely profittable for ETRG! This is a great move on their part. And is a great community service. KOOI will cover Longview, Tyler, Jville, Lufkin, and Nacogdoches with Classic Hits the first time this has been done in this market. Its billing should be comparable to KYKX! Good job Ginger and Dru!

I've caught Sunny 106.5 on my Jeep's car stereo in Fort Worth. But in Austin, Radio-Locator's lists a 99w translator at 106.5 http://radio-locator.com/info/K293BF-FX
BTW their webstream doesn't sound bad. I just wish more stations would dump Windows Media streaming and use Mp3.

I used to get Sunny 106.5 when I lived in Ft. Worth in '96. Considering the small market, it was always programmed very well. I tended to prefer it to KVIL, though I was never a huge KVIL fan from the beginning.
As for internet audio, I listen to internet radio through my smartphone and an auxiliary jack in my car. I can't tell a significant difference between most internet streams and FM radio these days. How the stream sounds is really up to the station and its bandwidth provider. Whatever the case, it's a far cry from the original days of Real Audio, which sounded like AM, including the occasional audio drop-outs. In fact, some of the streams I listen to are nearly CD quality.

Still, KOOI's programming seems a little different than what I would consider to be a true "Classics Hits" station like KLUV or KONO. They still play a lot of 90's stuff like Jewel and Sarah McLachlan, especially during the day. I guess they are still trying to keep the 30-something female office worker demographic. They played a Nelly Furtado song during the day on Saturday, which is something that seems totally out place on a classic hits station. At night, the Tom Kent show is almost exclusively 70's-80's stuff and seems to fit right in.
