Has PRO become one long B--tch session ?

This last storm was the topper for me, it is apparent that no matter what goes on in this state, The Happy Talkers at PRO will find a way to bash and criticize. Of course last year's December mess kept Buddy with an actual topic till the robins started to nest. This year when the state tried to avoid problems, there they were again droning on and on about how they did everything too early, calling Steve Kass a trader, etc. Buddy actually gave his pal David a list of things to do to be prepared for the storm. Yesterday, he went through the list, and checked off each one that was done, and criticized him for stealing his ideas. I heard several callers who actually expressed my same sentiments. It is way obvious that they need some competition to come along and bring down their over-inflated egos. It's like that old joke about the waiter who asked the non-stop complainers at his table.....Is anything allright ?

S. Danman, yes, I thought what Dan Yorke was saying about Steve Kass was 2 faced.
Yorke was SCREAMING last year, for the schools to be closed, blah, blah,.
Kass and Government do exactly what Yorke wanted and he SCREAMS again..
Bad, bad talk radio. I can't tell you how many people said yesterday and today,
Yorke was just doing that to 'Fill time'..

I mean you got Depetro and the 'Book'.
You got Cianci and all the 'Crimes'.
You got Yorke and all the 'Complaints'.
Sounds like a long Bit-h session to me.

While I did figure it was a bit of a stretch to be criticize the response ahead of time, seeing as it didn't start to snow until about 2pm, it was a bit premature to call of school for the whole day for most districts.
Dan & Matt's criticism of the state of the roads was spot on....with the little traffic there was, why were the roads for those (like me) who were forced to be in work until 5p in such bad shape? Rt 146 had at least 1-2" on them and Mineral Spring Ave was an absolute ice rink (considering there is 4-5 hills on it, you'd think plows would be going up and down it all day w/ plows, sand & salt). 95 north had problems at the Thurbers curve (the same exact spot as they had the problems 12/13/07), 295 North & South from Rt 7 to the canyon was worse than Rt 146 and had 4-5" on them.....I think the most egregious was Providence starting to ticket at 9am when they did not announce the parking ban on any of the radio stations (not on ProAM, HJJ or Pro-FM yesterday morning while I was listening)...Judge Caprio is going to throw each and every one of those tickets out the window....

WPRO is like some old time barber shop stuck in time where people meet to just gripe. Listen long enough and if you're not the grumpiest guy on the block you soon will be. Anyone who even considers them informative probably is too clueless in the first place to know what informative really is.

I love how wknd always says he is not in the pocket of WPRO, and then there he is again backing up everything they say verbatim. It seems like everyone else who responded to the topic of this post agrees, but then comes the former employee( who remembers the glory days) and misses the point.

The height of hypocrisy, was to hear Yorke going after Kass and whomever, for doing Exactly what Yorke wanted done.. It sounded like a ratings ploy. It sounded Low rent. He was the big Tough Guy, who was screaming the schools should have been closed last year, with the same type of storm.

How I wish HJJ would Go Local.

I think wknd is just trying to look at all sides of the picture. He's done some Citadel criticizing in the past. I think WPRO has just made a conscious decision to go for the type of audience that has a natural tendency to complain & be outraged over anything. The public loves dysfunction. Whether or not it's a good decision remains to be seen. Anytime I watch an Everybody Loves Raymond rerun I expect to see Frank & Marie listening to 630AM:
Frank: Da mayor is a bum and he's gay too!
Marie: Are you hungry Buddy?

Speaking of hungry Buddy I heard a traffic report he called in to Ch 6 and he mentioned The Old Canteen on Atwells Avenue. Does every report he phones in have to have a restaurant as a vantage point? Will he not do reports on roads that don't have restaurants he frequents?

Funny...tell me what was being talked about on WHJJ on Thursday? Friday? Today? Oh, that's right...they have 2 whole hours for a local show w/ Helen and she is usually talking about national stories, much like the station does for the rest of the day with their roster of national hosts. Their one chance to maybe bring local listeners in from 8-10 and every time I tune in, she's talking about terror detainees in Gitmo, national economic policy, Iraq troop levels, etc.

Everyone bashes WPRO here; but all you have to do is look at the ratings and there is a reason that the book that we were able to see had WPRO-AM #2 and WHJJ #14 getting beat by KKB, JMN and PMZ, people aren't listening.
I'm sorry I have a differing opinion than you; but last time I checked, my passport tells me this is the United States of America where I can have my opinion. Glory days have nothing to do with it....I myself along w/ my co workers were complaining that schools were out all day on Friday where people had to wreak havoc with their schedules to make sure kids found places at relatives houses or daycares/Boys Clubs/YMCA's (that didn't close because of the impending storm). Tickets being handed out at 9am on Friday after no parking ban notice being on the radio or TV as far as I could see. And while all of the schools were out and a good number of businesses closed in preparation for the storm, you would think the roads would be in good shape for those who had to work all day; but yet come 5pm, all you could hear on the traffic reports was that the highways and city streets were in bad shape and accidents all over the place. Now today, a story comes to light about why Warwick schools were closed today because of perceived actions (or non actions) taken by the union in Warwick...where did you hear that first? WPRO
I do wish the glory days were here because the same situations would have been treated the same way by Sherm, Maryann, et al.....it is just people here seem to have short memories about that and/or personal agendas and axes to grind.
