Has Rush Limbaugh added any new sponsors?

I heard local talk show host Kevin Wall in Las Vegas say: "...lots of sponsors will now want to advertise on the Rush Limbaugh Show..."

What new sponsors has Rush Limbaugh added do far?

That's some guy talking out of his arse.

What sponsor would want to put themselves in the crosshairs of a protest movement? It's a LOT easier to lose business than to build business, which is why business people are so cautious. This isn't about ideology to them, it's about money.

Although, as the radio-info news article pointed out, even though 36 sponsors have cancelled or suspended their advertising on Limbaugh's show, at least ONE has said they'll buy:

"SeekingArrangement.com, whose mission is to match subscribers with wealthy “Sugar Daddies,” said Tuesday it intends to gobble up available ad time during Limbaugh’s program."

Nice.

I am not affiliated with any station airing the Limbaugh show. Has the audience to the show declined? I think not. So, I am advising my clients that now may represent a unique opportunity to have local positions in the Limbaugh show at advantageous rates.

I heard the dating service "Ashley Madison" was talking about advertising (probably a ploy for free promotion) and a political super PAC was going to take out more ads. Doesn't matter how many listeners he has unless he has ads.

Heard some "sugar daddies" site was going to advertise, hadn't heard about Ashley Madison (which would P.O. some of the affiliates even more).

This is starting to sound like the advertisers left for Stern, when he was on terrestrial. Lots of the biggies (McD's, Coke, etc.) retreated & you had the Ashley Madison type advertisers.

If the colon cleanser commercials begin to appear on Rush's show, you know he's scraping the bottom (pun intended.)

Given Rush's core demos, Ashlley Madison and the penis enlargement/boost-in-the-bedroom crowd might do well for themselves advertising with Rush.

Maybe Smilin' Bob will be a guest on Rush's show in the future. ;D

Apparently the AshleyMadison story is wrong. Or at least that's what Rush says.

Meanwhile, the writer who reported the story wrote a column today in the Washington Post:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/compost/post/sorry-rush-limbaugh-a-response-from-the-writer-he-called-b-i-itchy/2012/03/08/gIQAmgPkzR_blog.html?hpid=z2

I'm sure that will be the topic of the next Rush rant.

It struck me while I read the Post column what the real problem is with talk radio: Too much time to fill.

Did you ever listen to Stern when he was on WNBC? He did a lot of the same stuff he does now, but the bits were shorter and more concise, because he had to cram in a song every couple of minutes. The problem with talk radio is there's too much talk. If the bits were planned just a little better, instead of ramblings and rants, talk radio might be more interesting. But these guys don't know when to stop. They keep beating the already-dead horse. And sooner or later they say something wrong. Thank God for the commercials, because they give us blessed relief. If it weren't for them, the host would just keep talking.

Now THERE'S a classic line!

Acutally, I hated the corny Stern bits when he was on WNBC. I much preferred the rambling stream of consciousness stuff...far more real and funny.

I also like when talk hosts talk about normal life thigns before launching into topics. It just makes them more relateable, rather than being just a topic machine.

Yep, far more real...but also more likely to become TMI: Too Much Information. Sometimes that's funny. Sometimes it's not, depending on the host and topic. But imagine how talk radio would be if the host would just "hit the post," play a song, and let it all sink in for a few minutes. The nightly dating and relationship shows handle it best.

Maybe a "Don Chamberlin" style sex talk show will fill the void? If political talk continues to slip.

Towards the end of Friday's show, Rush was speaking with the head of NewCandescent.com, a place to buy incandescent bulbs for those who want to legally detest CFL's.
