HAS THE TIMELESS "STREAM" DRIED UP?

Coincidence or not?

With the Timeless expiration date soon approaching, I've been trying to catch the online stream on a few of the stations I know of, and in each case the websites are claiming that the stream is either "offline" or "currently unavailable".

This is tragic! I cannot get my fix before the final demise!!!

OK... Maybe I over-reacted. Since I'm home now I was able to find a streaming of Timeless. It just seems odd that MORE than 1 station reported the stream unavailable!

Stay tuned I guess. :-\

According to Wikipedia, The signoff of "Timeless Favorites" has already occured. I am currently listening to the stream of Timeless Favorites 1570 AM /95.3 FM in nearby Oneonta, Alabama, and as of 12:14 AM, the Favorites are still going. www.wcrl1570.com .

I heard it this afternoon...1pm EST "live" on-the-air over 1270 AM... still going, Laurie Bandemeir I believe. :D

This is a copy of my post (earlier today) to mbatchelor's thread on a new Standards Station in StL:

Hey, gang...Chuck Hillier checking in from Chicago. I was the architect for Emmis Communications-owned
Red 104.1; Man, do we miss that station and your great market! Unfortunately, with the station sale to Radio One...well...I guess the format change to Urban was inevitable.

Some may know that I've recently taken my "Smokin' Pop Standards" format (the sound of Red 104.1) and joined forces with legendary west coast programmer, Brad Chambers and his 24/7 internet radio station, "Martini in the Morning." It brings together the two most prolific, passionate program providers in the business, doin' what we love most: delivering an "Intoxicating Blend of Lounge, Swing, Jazz & Blues." My long time St. Louis pal, John Beck (who repeatedly said that "Red" was his all-time favorite radio station...ever), coined the phrase: "Music with Class." That plays well.

For those that miss the "Spirit of Red"...check out our web-site: www.martiniinthemorning.com. Again, it's full-time and features a live morning show, hosted by Chambers himself. Other live dayparts to follow as the property continues to evolve. I'd be happy for your thoughts and feedback...either through this posting, or perhaps directly to me at [email protected]. Have a great day, all. And keep Swingin' ! Chuck Hillier.

Yep! They've gone!

My regional ex-Timeless on 1270 is now True Oldies.... which I have (literally) about 3 miles from me on 1240! (yuk) :'(

WSON Henderson, KY goes to Citadel's Oldies Radio this morning.
WVJS Owensboro, KY goes to Citadel's True Oldies a couple weeks ago.
WAMW Washington, IN goes to a format I've not positively identified, I'm guessing Music of Your Life. (Still standards, and I'm pretty sure it isn't Dial Global)

102.7 WLYK "The LAKE" stays Timeless with the same music same id's same morning show. Unfortunately, 102.7 The LAKE is unable to be streamed online at this time. ;D

They've had that message displayed there for about the last 2 weeks!!

In my neck of the woods:

WXLA 1180 Dimondale (Lansing) flipped to Dial Global although they are still using the phrase "Timeless Favorites" as a positioning statement.
WFNT 1470 Flint dropped the music altogether and went News/Talk.
Not sure what's going on with the Midland stations (WMPX 1490 and WMRX 97.7) since their website still shows them as being Timeless.

Does anyone know what WCMC 1230 AM Wildwood NJ a long time "Timeless" affliliate is broadcasting now since Timeless is dead?

What is it that they're doing now? Are they broadcasting something called "now since Timeless is dead?" ???

Well, my Dial Global station is still memories even though they had to drop Memories when that format ended. There were Timeless Classics stations nearby, so they couldn't do that.

It needs commas but it makes perfect sense to me.

I was watching the movie "Bandits" yesterday and they played "Total Eclipse of the Heart" and, in fact, the female lead (Cate Blanchett) was saying the words and Bruce Willis knew them even though it was a terrible chick song. Well, it was a terrible song, I know that. I used to hate when it came on the radio because Bonnie Tyler screamed it as opposed to singing it, and then there were all those terrible sound effects.

And yet it was in the sample of several hundred songs Timeless had me listen to. Whether that means they played it or not I don't know, but they had some real junk in their final years.

The story goes she had surgery to remove nodules on her vocal cords, then proceeded to speak before she was allowed to, which resulted in her raspy voice. Interestingly, she was a singer before this happened, but it wasn't until after this procedure that she made it big.
