I was wondering, could it be possible for a company with tons of money to place receivers in all the major markets and other areas, lets say 100 receivers, near the local transmitters. Then put it on the satellite and sell it to subscribers, the same way XM or Sirius does it. For a charge, you can access any area of the US you want and hear the stations in the area and market. Lets say you want to hear what is on the local dial in Butte, Montana, you punch in Butte and you are in Butte, as if you live there, tuning your radio in on both AM and FM, your AM/FM radio becomes part of that area. This would be strictly for radio geeks, you could sample and listen to any place in the USA. Does this make any sense, it sounds like it would be a winner. I remember when cable was first introduced a long time ago in Wildwood, NJ, they offered all the FM radio stations in Philly on their cable system, you could select a channel and hear the Philly dial.

I better patent it before someone gets an idea to really do it .....I don't know if there would be infringement rights to certain stations, but I think it would be legal all the way around. I guess stations would want a kick back for using their on-air product.

if i had an ounce of ambition left, i'd be gettin' ready to be rich!

Reality check: why would you want to spend hundreds of millions of dollars on a 3rd satellite radio service just for radio geeks, when, in a couple years, widespread WiFi or WiMax will start making an appearance and you can just listen to a station's audio stream in your car?

because FM beats sirius and XM, and it wouldnt only be for radio geeks, if thats for radio geeks then so is XM and sirius
