Has WAVO/WTIX changed format?

Well first they put on that morning talk show from Salem broadcasting and now I happened to listen one morning after 10am and I heard a local sports talk show. Have they changed format? I can't believe they were trying to get people to call and talk about the Bobcats. I didn't stay around long enough to hear if they got any listener calls.

I would hope they got calls from people wnating to hear Ella Fitzgerald or Louis Armstrong and that they put a top to the nonsense.

There was a brief mention of this in the Observer but nothing about a full-fledged change.

They can't take away this good music. I don't care if they're not selling commercials. Anything else would get the same results.

This MAY be a positive development. It won't help me, but "Sports Yapp" starts an hour earlier, meaning it ends an hour earlier. And what it replaced was another talk show.

Unfortunately, just as I was preparing to buy a new clock radio so I could listen to "Big Band Jump" without thinking about turning on the radio, they put a sports talk show in its slot. TWICE on weekends. Now the clock radio would have come on during the week too, and if I was home early enough, I might be able to listen to the best music on the radio. I don't even think to turn it on except when I'm in the car AND in Concord.

I did hear my other station in the parking lot of the Old Navy shopping center, whatever it's called, across U.S. 29 from UNCC. If the engine is off, there's actually a listenable signal. Along the road, the power lines are a problem.

Does Charlotte need another sports or talk station?, WBT & WFNZ already cover that, WBCN can't draw an audience because of it being at 1660, maybe 106.1 ought to return to the "adult standards" format, i'm sure listeners would be glad to see this.

106.1 is brokered/LMA. The only way they would (and really, could) ever air anything other than Spanish would be if something happened with the LMA (which I doubt) or it expires and is not renewed.

No, but as I was listening to the commercial for one of the sports talk shows--which is just about all the commercials they have--they said they had positive sports talk. You definitely can't say that about WFNZ.
