Well, Fred wins.

Trust me, Fred, after dealing with some of the people on the Philly board, I've come to realize that you may be one of the most civil people on here.

Star, I know you were a fan of her show. And once I listened, I was impressed with how she handled the show.
It's not impossible for someone to come into radio from another type of work and succeed.
But what may still be lacking is a professional commitment to radio, if only because people who work hard at something tend to value the achievement more.
Radio is something that looks easy and a lot of people get the idea it is easy. Some are able to talk their way into a job, sleep their way into a job or otherwise exploit a personal connection. A few may have some name recognition they can exploit (playing ball, a legal career, running for public office or appearing on a reality TV show). In this way, radio is not much different from other branches of show business.
If your mother or your kindergarten teacher told you the way to succeed is work hard and do a good job, they lied.
As the old saying goes, "It's not what you know..."
I notice this time around, Johnson is not holding a Star Search contest and the ad specifically requires relevant radio experience.
