Hate to rub it in

I've been in Houston since Thursday, it sure has been nice listening to KHJZ The Wave. Oh how I miss Smooth Jazz in the DFW area.

That's it boys... let's get him

I'm actually in an airport heading to Houston, so guess what... that's right, no iPod :p

I say we start a new format. "Rough Jazz".E#dited songs no more than 45 seconds in length, Great for elevator surfers.

Gimarc would thank you immensely for that sentiment.

Don't get too used to it. There have been rumors flying that CBS is getting ready to flip KHJZ, perhaps in the next six weeks. I think the odds are much less than 50-50, but wouldn't be a huge surprise.

What the...? Does CBS want to make MOViN an entire statewide format? :-\

I heard some Jazz on 88.9 KETR last night. Pretty good signal over Plano.

Movin is a national format...poin up everywhere, just like JACK...I hate it when Robby is right about stuff like this.

Talk, seriously... that is completely... well, DE-ish. You really think "MOViN is a national format" wasn't understood and needed clarification? It was done with tongue firmly planted in cheek as to highlight the popularity of that crap in this state.

Sometimes it's ok to roll with it. 8)

Kinda like I am trying to do with the absence of my former employer at KOAI. :(

movin is in LA, I think there is one in Atlanta...they are popin up like mushrooms...stilll, movin is better on its worst day than smooth jazz is on its best. ;D

There isn't one in Atlanta. CBS doesn't seem to be that committed to the format. It launched the rhythmic AC "Movin'" idea on 3 stations last year (KMVK here, KMVQ San Francisco, KVMX Portland). It hasn't put it on any other outlets since. Contrast that to rolling out "Jack" in relatively short time in 12 markets (LA, Dallas, New York, Chicago, Baltimore, San Antonio, Sacramento, Fresno, Minneapolis, Seattle, Buffalo, Las Vegas), it owned stations in.

Clear Channel has more rhythmic AC outlets around the country -- KPLV Las Vegas, WISX Philly, KFMK Austin, KPTT Denver, etc. -- than CBS does.

Thats your opinion. My opinion is we can live with Movin and the 106.1 version of The Oasis.....

nope, that was not my opinion. I thought it was your opinion. Does someone want to claim it?

Does anyone want to claim"Movin"? Does anyone want Osama as a relative?

Come on.... Most of you who criticize MOViN', know you be checking it out on the low-low..... ;)

Buc, I'm glad you said "most"... I would rather check our KDL-FM than "Keep on MOViN". It's really not that great. 8)

Movin should have checked out a long time ago. Man it doesnt take much to be a CBS programming guru.

I don't listen to Movin at all, but I would like to see the 106.1 version of The Oasis come back.
They were more willing to take chances on certain "jazz" songs. I've said it time and time again on
this forum, Gerry Rafferty's "Baker Street" is NOT smooth jazz.

Yeah, their half-baked version of jazz was upsetting in the latter months. It was like grasping for circulation when they didn't have to do it. Pat Metheny, in. Diana Krall, in. Um, Michael McDonald singing Motown? Not so much.

Thank goodness cooler heads prevail and they don't burn a stick on the black hole of muzak that is smooth jazz. I have nothing new to offer here, just to reiterate...no listeners+no revenue= no chance of seeing that garbage back here in DFW...Home of the Mediocre Rock station. Sorry Cameron, they need a good rocker before they can even think of wasting anymore time on your smooth jazz.
