Have a great holiday weekend guys...

Hope everyone has a fun (and safe) time weekend.

And since I probably need to post something about radio so I don't get moved "outside", here's something for ya...

I have an HD Radio in my car...And to be honest, I kinda enjoy the HD 2 stations more than anything else (CD, MP3 player). My favorite station is 97.1 HD2 - All classic rock. It's fantastic! All the great rock you can handle, commercial free. (It's what the Bone should have been, but suppose it doesn't matter anymore...)

My question is, why aren't they promoting that it's commercial free? The 4 - HD2 channels I listen to have no spots, no talent. Just music and station ID's.

Did they ever promote that it was commercial free? Are commercials eventually on the way, just not enough listenership to actually warrant spots right now?

OK, that's outta the way...Come Tuesday, ya'll better have some good stories from this holiday weekend to share!

Take'r easy

In short, they don't care about the extra channels. In fact there have been many a time when an HD-2 or HD-3 went silent, due to whatever reason, and the folks running the station didn't even know about it being silent. It also costs money to run the additional channels, and HD is already dead anyway from the lack of promotion it has gotten. HD Radio is on the same path AM Stereo took.

That sucks to hear. I knew it wouldn't never be able to compete with (the going bankrupt) satellite radio's, but I thought it was at least make a bigger impact than what has happened. I remember when corporate forced us to clear room for something like 50 HD spots per day for just over 3 months (2007-ish)...Now you might hear one every other week.

So how long until my HD radio is obsolete?
