The surprise format change at WCBS-101.1 is probably the biggest broadcasting story in New York since WABC-770 flipped from top-40 to talk in 1982.
I suspect that given the fact CBS-FM was an oldies station for 33 years, the change did get some attention on the late (10 P.M. on WNYW-5, WWOR-9 and WPIX-11; and 11 P.M. on WCBS-2, WNBC-4 and WABC-7) local television newscasts tonight (June 3rd).
Did any New York TV stations carry reports on the change?? And if so, were they able to interview longtime CBS-FM listeners and/or former CBS-FM air personalities displaced by the change??
