I'm looking for facts. Got any? Usually an embargo suggests unreliable numbers. Did anyone "see" these unreliable numbers? Somebody must have determined them to be unreliable. Arbitron...unreliable? Who da thunk?

Moo

PS-I know..I should get a lawyer before I post things like this. zzzzzzzzzzzz

No offense "Moo", but why would you care about the ratings? There's not a damn thing you can do. Just relax on the beach with your dog and enjoy life. Let the new big shots worry about that crap ;)
Edited by The Reporter on 02/01/06 12:54 PM.

Apparently there's a LOT of that attitude in BingoTown. That's why this board can go a month between posts.

I've often wondered why this board is so moribund. I know it's a small broadcasting world there, and everybody knows everybody else. I also know that the guy you're beating up on the board this week might be the guy you're asking for a job next week. But, is everything so happy in BingoTown that nobody has anything to talk about? C'mon, aliases allow you the luxury of "plausible deniability".

As the saying goes, "No guts, no glory."

Wow. My dog passed away 18 months ago. I now have a new dog that's never been to Binghamton. I am interested because I spent time there, and this is an unusual circumstance that a friend asked me about.

I never was a big shot, and I'm still not. I also don't live on the forum here, so I can't speak for forum traffic. The market was always undersampled, so something like this doesn't altogether surprise me.

The beach? Nah. Tennis courts? You betcha.

Usually an embargo means that a subscribing station has asked Arbitron to supress the 12+ numbers so that a non-subscribing station can't see them through other media. Subscribers still get the book. I would take it to mean that one of the stations engaged in direct competition (WAAL-WKGB, Star-Wild, Lite-Mix)has made the request because the numbers haven't been kind to them. or as a PD in my last market used to do, just to mess with them.

As it was explained to me, Arbitron got wind of the advances being discussed here.
______________

Seriously Jon? I was discussing this with Jacko. Do you think Arbitron tapped my phone to make sure I didn't have advances?!!!!

Geez. I guess we can all wait a week. It's not like we're all on the edge of our seats! I believe Arbitron should be more concerned with accuracy, and less concerned with surveillance.

Maybe a non subscriber looks a little better than usual? Both CC and Citadel will use the #'s day one...so maybe LTB gained ground? Just a thought.
