Have you checked out KLDE's commercial?

They have totally repackaged everything-with bells and whistles. Their logo is completely different from the logo they used when they took over The Buzz's former dial position. It closely resembles The Buzz's current logo, as it moves away from Oldies to Classic Hits. Guess what: The word "Houston's" is not even mention on the logo. Instead it reads "Greatest Hits" at the top; and "60s & 70s" at the bottom. The commercials are now playing on TBS & TNT over at Time Warner. I watched the commercial during The Braves ballgame. Check It Out.

Cool looking commercial. Oddly enought, not one R&B artist in the list. I guess Marvin Gaye, Earth, Wind & Fire, or Barry White didnt have any great hits in the 60's ot 70's....

Sad that the R&B is leaving the station...<P ID="signature">______________

Perhaps KMJQ plays enough R&B classics to satisfy the demographic.

Of course, there might be an opening for a Classic R&B format on 92.1 should Radio One decide to hang on to the frequency after all.

I can tell you right now. '80s music still continue to suck there. I graduated from the '80s, I love the music while I was growing up. some of these songs continue to linger on inside my head. I wish Cox would fold these songs from the '80s &'90s over to KLDE, so they could make the flip to CCM, or Adult Alternative. My prediction: The Point could be heading for the latter. Love to see them play Coldplay, "You're Beautiful", or "You Had a Bad Day".

> You're Wrong! KLDE is still playing these great artists, not to mention Aretha, James Brown, The O'Jays, & The Spinners. It's trying to model after its San Antonio's sister, KONO 101-Which happens to be a Top 5 station there. I hope KLDE would realize the mistake on the next spot-which would feature these R&B artists. Also Cox has also doing things in a big way in its hometown of Atlanta. After CC has dumped Cool 105-7's music for Spanish, Cox has filled the void as they flipped 97 Jamz for Classic Hits. Evidentally, FOX 97.1 (Another KLDE sister) was Reborn, and Atlantans now have a good music over at WFOX. God bless them.

You can see the commercial on the station's website...

Just checked it out...not bad, indeed. Although, I would think that if they were going for a "makeover", they should have gone with new voice talent as well. Nothing wrong with the old guy, but he's been on there a long time.

I agree with you about the 80s music being bad. I grew up listening to the 80's and 90's, I much like the 90's music a lot better than the 80's. Whats cool about up in Austin Jammin 105.9 is playing a lot of 90's music even 90's rap music & dance hits.
