Hello All, i was recently scanning the am dial and picked up a loop recording of "testing 1,2,3,testing" in the north part of queens, with the strongest signal near rego park, any body have info on this? Maybe a part 15 station on a tall building?

I live in Queens in North Flushing and just picked up the testing on 550 AM. I am guessing that it will be a Traffic and Information Systems (TIS) channel. Since it came in strongly in Rego Park it is likely for cars on the Long Island Expressway (The World's Longest Parking Lot)

Thanks, not sure, but will have to research it, i am thinking a 100 mw on top of lefrack buildings wuld get some range as 550 is pretty clear, i know there is a construction permit for a station in nnj, but will kep my ears open

ok, thats good, does the license say to whom and /or what for? thank you either way, intresting.

Ya can't put an AM stick on top of Lefrack...... but always thought it would be a great translator site for a long island station trying to touch NYC.. FCC permitting of course.

I have not lived there in 29 years, but I seem to remember a 540 station on Long Island. That seems a little close. even if they are low (1000) Kw stations.
