KFYI announced this morning they fired Joe Crummey to make room for JD Hayworth. The guy that no one wanted to vote for is now supposed to get ratings.

savage live and jd @ 7, please.

i was kinda look'n forward to the wheel of hosts.

i wanna hear the hosts paired-up. ..each night tuning-in not knowing who & what to expect.

start coast to coast at midnight. six or seven hours of george snorry is way too much airtime for a single show.

46.4% of the people voted for J.D. So your statement isn't even close to accurate, I hardly call 93,300 people "no one"... but hey, don't let the facts get in the way of your spin.

Agree or disagree with his politics, I don't like this move for KFYI. I think J.D.'s voice is better for sports. I'll give him a chance, but still like Crummey from L.A. better.

As has been said before on this board, I'll say it again.... KFYI is a shell of the station it used to be.

Would someone send a case of Tylenol to the Buckeye Media Hut? The thought of the Windbag replacing the Evil One has given Nurse Jeff and me splitting headaches! Wonder what percentage of a congressman's salary KFWhyEye is paying the Windbag? Wonder what the Dudeboss is going to do when the Windbag runs again in '08? Guess Sports Siberia 8~Sixty is getting two more listeners! Ugggggh!!

I've met Hayworth a few times, calling him a doofus/gasbag is just scratching the surface.

He is the last one to realize that people don't like him, they really don't like him.

I was redistricted into his control from Jeff Flake (who I like!), and I just didn't vote for him or Mitchell.

KFYI should have learned from the Grant Woods debacle, back slapping backroom dealing babykissers don't make for good radio.

Sadly, he will probably be better than Ankarlo.

How dare they FIRE the Evil One! I was thinking he might have left, but... this plain sucks. I don't think JD could ever come close. Didn't we learn something from the last election? If more people liked him, he'd get much more votes than he did... and I'd bet only the ones who like him WILL take the time to listen. If ratings were what KFYI was thinking about, looks like they missed a heck of a lot! :(

Once again, in the issue of fairness, I must bring up that J.D. did garner 46% of the vote in the last election, it's not like he lost by a landslide.

Crummey didn't exactly have a great show, it was serviceable, but nothing spectacular--kind of survey radio like. That said, I'll give J.D. a chance, but am expecting nothing all that fabulous.

JD lost because a sizable number of Republicans were sick of his endless prattling on, his buffoonery and his ignoring the pledge to only serve a few terms. JD lost because he is disliked by Reps and Dems.

And, I figure that he couldn't get a gig as a lobbyist or anything that respected former members get, so he goes back to the only thing he knows how to do, blabbing on a radio.

I did notice that while Barry basically continued to rip CC and make fun of the whole situation, Broomhead was a loyal soldier, kissing up, in hopes of getting a better timeslot.

Guess I will listen to sports on the drive home now, Liddy and Hill are terrible, TAR is doing happy talk news, KFNX is selling colon cleansers, not sure what is on 1510, 1310 is Gerson or some Nascar goober show.

Crummey was funny, intelligent and hip-something different for KFYI. How can they be so stupid? Yes, they'll beat Ankarlo, but big deal, they'll be nobody to listen to on phoenix afternoon radio. Those idiots need to change their motto form "Talk for a new generation" to "Windbag radio". Yuck. Dumb fools. Guy's not a Dudeboss-he's a dipstick.I"M MAD!!!!

Amen! I couldn't have said it better!

I always ENJOYED listening to Joe... He wasn't like the others, he could have intelligent discussions and FUN all in the same show. Yeah, they will deeply regret this choice.

Forever EVIL... ;D

Hayworth, not being a lawyer, missed out on being a lobbyist.

On TV, he could get a job working for Jenny Craig or Weight Watchers.....with before and after photos.

I bet Hayworth came cheap. He wants the free exposure, in preparation for a run at Governor in 2008....or is it 2010?

One thing I won't miss, is that crazy intro song that Crummey sang; that was worse than anything on American Idol!

I thought the song (and his voice) were quirky enought to be cute. He was a smart ass with a good heart, he could draw a keen bead on people and politics, he loved his family, and he was hilarious. Like another poster said, the best ever in Phoenix pm drive time. I also think his little song was taking a swipe at the pretentious bumper music KFYI has always used, that's how I took it=his chosen theme was as ridiculous as the one they chose for him. Hope we can get him somewhere else.

In spite of the Master Blogger's self serving comments on the Evil One's whereabouts, Crummey would be the perfect replacement for Captain Stupor on News 92~Three, where Hip Hop used to live. But the chances of TMISU doing that are about the same as a 3 TV anchor babe getting through a newscast without giggling!

Score one for KT'R on this one. They made a big deal about Crummey in LA and forced KFYI to respond. Dudeboss blinked. JD would have been great 4 years ago. He's a tired old windbag now. :-\

This message board never ceases to amaze me. I admit I'm pretty cynical about the business, having some experience to support that skeptical view and whatnot. Nevertheless, it seems odd that so many of you are willing to hate the show before it ever even airs. Obviously many of you disagree with JD's politics and that's fine, but is that the determining factor as to whether or not you're going to listen to the show? I guess I'm just not understanding the hatred. Some of it is obviously sour grapes because Joe Crummey got the ax.

Reality check: Crummey improved upon the ratings of Liddy and Hill, which wasn't particularly difficult, but you generally don't get fired if you have 1) good ratings and 2) bring in the buck$. Crummey had modest ratings and was obviously not bringing in the cash, thus he got kicked to the curb. In radio it's about ratings which translates to the bottom line, dollars. This reminds a little of the 12 people that defended Charles Goyette--although in that case, it was all about performance as Goyette was in 23rd place in his time slot.

So, I get liking the old show that was there, and I understand disgust over a firing, I've aired some of that myself, but throwing JD to the wolves before he even opens up the mic is a tad foolish don't you think? If he sucks, I'll be the first to come on here and say so, but he can't be any worse than the afternoon snooze right?

"In 1998, Hayworth was voted the second biggest "windbag" in Congress in Washingtonian magazine's survey of 1,200 congressional staff members of both parties."

Need I say more?!

Oh, then I stand corrected, a reputable magazine article from nearly 10 years ago that votes on someone with such a credible title obviously means we can make judgments about a show prior to hearing it.

Anyone else?

Really, don't the Crummey love. Aside from the snarky and snide host ramblings, there really wasn't much content to the show, especially after the PMD traffic reports, news updates, promos and commercials that seem to occupy at least 2/3 of the actual broadcast… …then throw in the disingenuous bit of the host conducting a "local" show from the confines of a California studio, I don't get it all…

…but then, meantime, listeners continue to migrate from AM/FM because of the vacuous nature and infomercial laden waste band its become. All the while so-called "experts" brandish it a natural phenomenon, that potential listeners who own dozens of radios are shunning broadcast radio in lieu of expensive alternatives like satellite service, podcasts, etc.…

I am a conservative and I can't stand JD. He is a gasbag, an ever pontificating, brainless twit who overstayed his welcome in congress and became a "good old boy" rather than a public servant.

I have heard enough JD in my lifetime, he has guest hosted several times on KFYI and for Rush and Laura Ingraham, and he has been on every radio talkshow around. He is a moron, a buffoon, an oaf, the village idiot and a pompous waste of carbon in a tacky suit.

OK?

(all of the above applies to Arpaio as well, but Sheriff Joke is dangerous to society as well)
