HBO+ rejecting diversity?

Dang I heard similar stuff about WB before they merged with Discovery. This was around the time that Ellen and WB management in 2020 were accused of failing to stop a toxic work culture between directors and producers over their handling over racial and gender issues.

So, a little casual racism, homophobia and "anti-woke-ism" keeps Middle America happy. Hmmm.
In the end, it's all about 💲💲💲💲

"Middle America" being happy is a ruse.

Let's not get carried away here. Nobody makes that kind of accusations if a station targeting African Americans does not focus on the interests of non-Hispanic whites or if a Spanish language station does not play music and talk about things that non-Spanish speakers prefer.

So if a paid cable channel found out that the best return on program dollars is with shows focused on middle class suburban straight white people and they get very little subscriber interest in LGBTQ+ themed shows and their research shows fewer potential subscribers want that kind of content, it would seem natural to spend less on things their subscriber base does not want and more on the things they like and are comfortable with.

I have sampled a number of network TV shows that appeared in the last three to four seasons that have content that is focused on urban Black persons and the dialog includes lots of terminology I'm not familiar with in a speech pattern I am also not acquainted with. Because of that , I don't relate to those show, just as I never related to The Dukes of Hazard and more recent shows with thick southern accents and terms that make them hard for me to understand.

That is not racism or bias or prejudice. It is simply rejecting subjects and situations that don't entertain us and language patters and accents we don't understand.
