HD antenna question

"Source information for my statements about the necessity of an external antenna for HD radio even when a more then adequate analog signal was present without the additional antenna:NPR Labs IBOC Field Service Bulletin No. 02.20060216, Feb. 16, 2006An article by Chriss Scherer about the NPR tests are published in the supplimental insert "Insight to IBOC", Radio May, 2006"I know Chris and have written for Radio magazine a few times. As I stated, I believe many of the issues stem from lack of construction consistency, at least in the B.A. As to the mobile environment, Tom Ray from WOR has claimes that his 50 K HD signal covers his stations contour perfectly. Why don't you check out the WOR web page for some demos and information about his real world testing."If the coverage for both is exactly the same (as you claim) then the analog signal also would disappear at the same time. The switching back and forth would not work. "Blending" is only possible and necessary because the coverages are plainly NOT THE SAME."So what? I get 100% copy on my HD channels, what else matters?"Many like and trust "Consumer Reports" and cell phones. Sorry you don't."To each their own. I just know that my experience with CU has been less then positive. As to cell phones, if you were peacefully sitting at a light waiting for it to turn green and had some cell phone user plow into you because he was "reaching for his phone" Your opinions might be different too. "The BA has no internally connected antennas?"Not for FM it doesn't."You have no computer to listen to internet streams?Wow!"We're talking radio not computers here. You apparently have some major complaint about the HD system. I guess you will have to find some other way to spend your free time, because as I sit here listening to the WNYC second channel on my Receptor with it beautiful sound and solid reception I think of just how wrong your position is.

Auto...You are chasing a moving target with this guy. He has no first hand experience with HD (that is PAINFULLY obvious). And just has happy ears for the things he wants to hear. Those in the know are aware of some of the shortcomings and better yet the advantages of the HDS system. We have tried to share them with technical backup but soem will just never get it.

You of course are right. I'm just a glutton for punishment.

Dave, we have had this discussion before, but I presume that you are referring to your home in Rockland county.I doubt that you get 100% copy on your HD channels in the master control area where you work in NYC. Have you tried that?My experience is that the BA receiver does not work at all well in the concrete jungle of NYC.Cal Stymes

I receive all the AM's in our master control wth the supplied loop (WOR, WNYC & WADO), but no FM's. The building is shielded but anyhting I can hear in analogue I can also hear in HD if the station has an IBOC exciter operating. I brought the radio to work the week I purchased it and tested it in the city.
