HD Broadcast Problems

Just this morning, I've noticed 3 stations are having HD Radio problems. I first tuned into 107.5 HD-2 (Smooth Jazz) which according to my receiver is no longer available (I can access the online stream fine). I then tuned into 97.9 FM and they no longer have their HD signal. As I scanned through a few other stations, it has skipped over 100.3 Jack FM. After a little manual tuning, I found out why, 100.3 FM had a faint sound of Mr. Roboto unless I moved it in another place. All other stations are fine. I'm wondering if there's a little cross-interference with these frequencies.

Anyone else with an HD radio experienced the same problems?

Is 105.7's HD1 still up and running?

Was the Jack FM interference you're talking about on the HD signal or on the analog signal?

No, to answer your questions, they're not cross-interfering with each other.

My educated guess is that some of the above mentioned stations are on backup towers/antennas due to their main tower being worked on. I don't know of a single station in this market that has HD radio on their backup transmitters.

I believe all those stations are on the same tower. I bet they'll be back when the tower work is done.

Yes, KRLD-FM, KJKK and KMVK are all on the same tower, ASRN 1053452. It's the really tall one on South Potter Street, the eastmost of towers on west side of US-67. All of them are above 1800' HAAT, the highest of the Cedar Hill sticks.

Here's a good view of it when KHFD/51 was installing their television antenna a few months back:

Nice video. I was hoping for some shots from the top...can't say I blame them for not going there, though...(lol)

I had the same problems...I assumed it was tropospheric ducting that was to blame since the problem corrected itself later in the day once the sun was shining. If it was just a couple of stations or a certain company, I'd think broadcast problems, but all HD stations across the market were out. If an engineer can expand on this (and correct me if I'm wrong), but Tropospheric ducting usually happens around the end of summer and the beginning of spring...?
