HD Encoding

I still feel HD stinks given the Licensing and equipment costs.

In the past Bext has copied specific US gear. I am sure this must be taking place elsewhere. Is there a deal on HD gear currently through any supplier?

Last I checked BE wanted $160,000 for an FXI 30 w exciter and encoding gear. Too much for normal people.

The price of equipment, plus small coverage and few receivers=
not for smaller markets. The bigger question is...will this lead to it's demise as it did for AM stereo? JBI

If I had equipment that was affordable I would pay the 10k for Licensing. This would allow us to make translators full service stations for two more communities. This is the only thing I see as useful about HD.

I am hoping someone would allow encoding with a standard exciter. Since most of the product is tied to a computer I am hoping someone across the sea will develop this.
