HD Feed For WHTA

It appears as if the HD feed for Hot 107-9 has been offline for a while now. Are there any plans for it to go back online anytime soon?

Well, unlike WAMJ (107.5 frequency) which has the two subchannels you mentioned, Hot 107-9 simply had the main subchannel that was the digital format of their analog broadcast. Sound quality was great too, just like their WAMJ/WPZE counterparts!

As of lately, however, I noticed that 107.9 has only been broadcasting in analog format, and was just curious to know if perhaps there was some sort of equipment failure, or if a decision was reached by the suits to discontinue HD broadcast on this frequency.

Someone should call the station and let the engineering department know of the problem. They may know, but maybe not. The HD was off on WSB-FM 98.5 for a couple of days. I called and asked for the engineering department and found they did not know it was off. The person who answered said it "needs to be rebooted". The HD was back on in about 30 minutes. I don't think they monitor HD systems like they do the analog.

It could be a system failure and is something they are working on. You never know.

Believe it or not at one time FM was like HD is now. When I started a WDBL (1971), The FM* went off the air sometime between between 2:30 AND 3:00 one Saturday afternoon. I only discovered it was off when I went to take the transmitter reading at 3:00 PM! No one was listening to the FM (simulcast with the AM) or at least cared to call the station.

* they use to have 94.3 but never upgraded. 94.3 ended up near Fort Campbell KY instead of being a Nashville "move in"
