HD in Panama City

I have it on pretty good authority that there will be another HD station in Panama City soon......right now, only WKGC is HD.

Honestly I didn't think this would be a big deal. But when I listened to WKGC it sounded awesome. I can tell a huge difference in my wife's car.

HD

yes....I have an HD radio in my company truck it is amazing the difference between analog and HD....plus the other channels on HD2, etc

Why haven’t the WFSU stations in Tally, Thomasville and Panama City gone HD?
Is WFSU the last major NPR station in Fl not broadcasting in HD?

WFSU-HD

For some reason, they elected not to go HD....there was NTIA/CPB funding available to them for the HD upgrade....I thought that was strange but it was their decision.

I can see two possible reasons. They already can program two formats with 88.9 and 91.5. Would a third or fourth (AAA, jazz, etc. bring in enough additional contributions to offset the costs? Both stations need translators in parts of Tallahassee (93.7 for WFSU campus/downtown and 92.7 for WFSQ in Killearn) to cover problem areas. Would HD coverage be good or just frustrate listeners with the HD dropping in and out? I could see a better case for WFSW in PC to go HD to relay the classical format.
