HD Legal IDs?

WSB's Legal ID mentions "WSB Atlanta WSRV HD"...is that HD marketing, or an FCC legal requirement?

It should be "WSB Atlanta WSRV-HD2 Gainesville", since WSRV is licensed to Gainesville. If not, that is an FCC infraction.

If the 750 simulcast were on WSB-FM (B98.5)'s HD2, they could cheat a little "WSB and WSB-FM HD2 Atlanta".

The FCC rules aren't that cut and dry.

"Second, proper identification consists of the station's call letters
followed by the particular program stream being broadcast and the
community or communities specified in the station's license as the
station's location."

"This requirement can be met through auditory means (i.e.,
voiceovers), textual means (i.e., datacast text appearing on the
receiver's readout), or any other reasonable means of communication."

From the CFR:
"DTV stations, or DAB Stations, choosing to include the station's
channel number in the station identification must use the station's
major channel number and may distinguish multicast program streams.
For example, a DTV station with major channel number 26 may use 26.1
to identify an HDTV program service and 26.2 to identify an SDTV
program service. A radio station operating in DAB hybrid mode or
extended hybrid mode shall identify its digital signal, including any
free multicast audio programming streams, in a manner that
appropriately alerts its audience to the fact that it is listening
to a digital audio broadcast."

If you listen that's exactly what they do say. WSB, Atlanta WSRV HD2 Gainesville.
Half the stations in Atlanta have not done a "legal" analog ID in years!!!
