HD Multicasting in Denver?

As you know, CC and CBS are rolling out HD multicasts on a number of major market stations. Denver isn't included in the most recent announcements. When I visit the iBiquity.com web site, however, they state that all three CBS FMs in Denver are multicasting on their HD2 channels. Is this the case? If so, are they running distinct formats or are they straight simulclasts? Anyone have an HD receiver?<P ID="signature">______________

Hi, Safford, long-time lurker, enjoy the site.

Here's the situation as of scanning the dial in my car in Boulder yesterday:

Denver area tations broadcasting in HD:

KUVO 89.3
KVOD 90.1 is multicasting NPR news.
KUNC 91.5
KWLI 92.5 is multicasting a simulcast of their main program.
KTCL 93.3
KBCO 97.3 is multicasting an "All Studio C" format.
KQMT 99.5
KOSI 101.1
KTRR 102.5 Greeley has a silent digital 'carrier' on with no programming.
KXKL 105.1 Apparently has multicasting ability, but it seems to be silent.
KJAC 105.5
KALC 105.9 Seems to be in testing mode, intermittently on HD.

There's three stations in town with multicast programming currently on the air. I'd bet there's going to be a whole lot more signing on over the next six months.

I'm using a Kenwood receiver.

Well since KBCO typically was the first one to go HD2 in the first place before everyone else followed.
Its interesting KUAD as I read on the other board was Multi-casting to.. I wonder what TRI 102.5 would put on their Multi-channel? When or if that ever happens.
Jack is mulitcasting??? Interesting
I guess Jack could do another channel of playing all the other songs that we want to play :)

I think KQKS will try one of two things: All Dance or Extreme Hip Hop.

God help us all if the PD/MD decides the new Hi Five track is Extreme Hip Hop.

Then again, don't they like to

A: Play a lotta stiffs
B. Play out the Hip Hop hits they do play

Interesting...thanks for the info!

Is the KBCO multicast the same programming as KBCO2, the all Studio C Internet stream? I would assume so.

I wonder how long KWLI has been multicasting a simulcast of their regular signal--prior to the change from KDJM?

This is how I think Infinity will be able to add an All-News station (ala WINS) to their repretoire (You just know they're just eager to add one). As to who would staff it, that task would go to KCNC 4 (at least for the time being).

In other words, can anyone here say KIMN-FM 100.3-2 ??

Cheers :)

That would be a first for KIMN to be an all news channel on 2. If they stick with the KIMN call letters and not rename the station as MIX NEWS KIMN 100.3-2! or something stupid.
