WZGC and WKHX have had their HD signals off the air for awhile. There are several Atlanta FMs that used to broadcast in HD but no longer do. WNNX used to have an HD1 only signal and sounded awesome because they used the entire bandwidth on that one HD channel. Very little compression. WYAY (now WAKL) did for awhile even after switching to All News. Played jazz on the sub channel. WSBB was in HD while it was WBTS. The sub channel played a CHR format and was very good. WALR used to have an HD2 signal that played EDM called “the Surge.” WNGC was in HD for a short period of time but it has been off lately.
WZGC has had an HD1 signal for years. The reason that the HD is off on these two is because of TV repack work. Pretty much everyone at the Briarcliff tower is on an aux site. Work started yesterday.

I see that WZGC's aux is New Street so I'm guessing that's what they're using. WKHX's aux is the older Briarcliff/Shepherds Lane tower. I'm guessing the older tower isn't affected by the repack since only (TV and radio) backups are on it (plus the 92.3 translator).
Are those indeed the sits being temporarily used by WZGC and WKHX?
Roddy... Correct on both stations. WZGC is using the New street site. wkHX is on the "old" Shepherd tower. It is far enough away that it works for them. 99.7, 96.1 and 94.9 are using pretty new facilities at Chester Ave.
Atlanta's TV repack work should be complete in September. But most of the tower work should be done in August.
Don't know what they did, but 98.5HD2 has been sounding better than ever, incredibly clean, not overly processed, and...wait for it...NO MORE DROPOUTS!
Looks like K-Love turned up HD as well.
WZGC, and all of the others are able to return to Briarcliff as of today. Other than some measurements in a week or two, the majority of the tower work is complete.
