Why can every other major station in town able to air HD programming yet channel 17 only airs Braves games in HD. TNT has HD programming on cable along with other Time Warner cable networks. Why cant shows like The Office, The Closer and Law & Order SVU on channel 17 be in HD? We are TV market number 8 and we deserve HD programs in HD.

Do not underestimate the cost of carrying syndicated programming in HD.

You're talking about replacing a video server system, something that costs in the six figures. Depending on how the rest of the plant is wired, there may be another six figures in "glue" equipment (DAs, routing switchers, master control) that also needs replacement to support HD.

The Braves games probably arrive via satellite. A single satellite receiver and a HD bypass switcher are all it takes to air them in HD. Once you have to start recording things and switch among multiple HD sources, it gets pricey fast.

They'll do it someday. You can probably reasonably assume it's already in their plans. In this economy don't expect it to happen quickly though.

I would rather see channel 17 do some 17.2, 17.3, 17.4 sub stations. At some point most large stations will have several sub stations. Why must we wait until 2020 before that happens? There are several national subs similar to RTV that would make for a much more interesting local lineup/variety of programs to select from.

WPCH-HD on Comcast (802) is only part time. 802 has color bars most of the day.

I still think once the economy improves, channel 17 will be sold. It is Time Warner's only FCC licensed broadcast station.
