"Many engineers who find themselves faced with either an FM or AM HD Radio conversion process are more than a little surprised when the IBOC generator arrives." :D

Overall, this has been a very interesting edition of RW. Largely negative of HD Radio.

I also found Ira Wilner's antidote for curing AM and bringing IBOC to AM interesting; forget DX'ing and skywave propagation and treat AM as local service only. Then we had an article on the benefits of DRM and what bands it can be used on from the guy who heads the consortium.

I wonder if anyone of any consequence at the FCC has been reading this?

The stations and companies that are installing HD Radio today are not the ones neglecting there transmitting facilities. Most of all the current stations operating in HD are in large or major markets and have complete standby facilities . There are few mom and pops doing HD right now and it's fair to say that the ones who are probably have proper HVAC.

By the time HD rolls into the bottom feeders, the equipment will likely be much more forgiving.
