HD Radio: Digital Boondoggle

Actually, that linked piece was very well thought out. It pays to follow and read these links.

the article is so wrong in so many ways. One, the receivers are not supposed to be out yet. The manufacturers demanded station count and HD2 content first. That is now here, and the receivers will come.

The blogger dismisses terrestrial radio, because he/she/it does not like most of the content. 95% of Americans 18-54 do, and listen. Listening in that demo continues strong and healthy, and radio revenues are going to be up this year nearly 4%, despite the problems in the auto industry, radio's biggest advertiser.

Finally, the fool rants about the RIAA... nothing to do with HD or radio in general. The RIAA, if successful, with put copyright tags on all digital signals, wheher HD, streaming, satellite, WiFi or WiMax or any new digital technology. The fact that the blogger can not figure out who to blame makes him of very doubtful credibility.

The blogger lies outright about "cash strapped" broadcasters. This is not true... all you have to do is look at the financials for the publicly traded companies.

Let him go elsewhere. We have gotton along without his ilk for 80 years, and we will survive a while more without him.

I think people have the ability to make up their own minds about what the piece said. Remember, its writer claims to be a radio lover, particularly an AM radio lover.

And DAVID WRITES: "...Let him go elsewhere. We have gotton along without his ilk for 80 years, and we will survive a while more without him."

With that kind of attitude, survival may only be a VERY SHORT while.

I did read and follow the link, thank you. It's no secret that the writer is not a fan of HD Radio.

My point is that SayNo is simply posting links to Anti-IBOC opinion pieces. Hardly hard-hitting journalism.

Of course, since he hasn't listened to HD Radio himself, he could hardly write anything on his own.
