HD Radio has one distinction...

No mention though of HD's major shortcomings - interference of adjacent signals and spotty/limited reception.

While AM Stereo in it's various forms may never had had mainstream acceptance.....it NEVER torpedoed the service that it was supposed to enhance the way the In Band Over Channels has. <G>

Completely agreed...this is like a color NTSC broadcast knocking a monochrome signal off the air.

You failed to mention that satellite radio also made the list.

I scrapped both my XM & Sirius subs years ago....but still my HD Radio gets use.

I did the opposite like most people who try out glorious HD radio, they ralize it doesn't work and dump it. Mine is right next to me with the light flasing on and off from the last power failure we had here about two weeks ago. I dimmed it but left it flashing. Love siruis XM, it works everywhere I drive with no drop outs and much better selection.

Re: Reply #6 - classy post. ;) Of course, what else would we expect from Mr. "I get HD reception at 65+ miles in a metal warehouse" ? :D

FWIW: a regional SCMS rep of my acquaintance also calls it "IBUZ." You know: a guy who makes his living selling equipment including HD (or, to be more precise, NOT selling HD equipment these days.)

I've also had conversations with engineers at CBS stations - ones who don't use enormous negative atmospheric pressure to maintain their "personal and professional relationship" with Glynn Walden - who also think that HD Radio is a lie, a scam and junk engineering.

Of course, I guess we are also to dismiss the recent negative press in RW, RBR and CNET (owned by major HD conspirator CBS) as more obstruction from "Luddites" too. Or has the ever-inventive HD gang actually thought up a fresh insult recently?

No. 11 on the hit parade.

Jeez Rich, I see you are still OCDing on HD Radio (I'm sorry you call it IBUZ...hahahahah that gets me everytime... for the past 5 years ::) ). Hows that consulting business going fer ya? Or are you still telling the tales about XETRA from 1968?

Who the bleep is Rich? (Hint: it isn't me.)

No worries, Hair. Don't feel bad: there's a WCBS newsman who posted here in the "Portable Review" thread who - given the "finger quotes" he uses around my actual name - apparently thinks I'm Wolfman Jack. Or Michael Savage. (Or somebody. Jeez, I THOUGHT I remembered you from XETRA in 1968. Or was that "Rich" at XERB....? We're SO old. Time for my nap...then Judge Wapner....then the "early bird" special at Dennys followed by Wheel of Fortune!) :D

I'm just hoping that, when all radio is owned by religious broadcasters, they'll at least leave a bit of "old style" music-radio on their HD-2 channels.

Otherwise, I gotta learn to hum or whitle, or something! ;D

It's a reference to the Rich Corinthian Leather that often covered the chairs in the reception area of some X stations, except for the more seedy ones. Even those with seedy audio had some fine wood around the place.
