Did the rest turn off the HD because of lack of interest?, because I saw a list last year that had all Peak stations, most CC, and The Fox that was doing a Triple-A format.

I don't think this is limited to Fresno. We are seeing some of the same behavior in Sacramento. I think when it breaks it's abandoned. :) My opinion of course. CC has been spending boat loads in New Media/Online. Wouldn't surprise me if the budget for HD is no longer.

I'd hazard to say.
The cost to License...
http://www.ibiquity.com/broadcasters/licensing/licensing_facts_fees_and_terms
program (mostly) "royalties" and "programming consultants" a.k.a. people who need to get a life, that can't relate to the listeners that have one. (Oh sorry...) Never-mind.
power (PG&E),
& to maintain, etc., I'm sure there's more for this list...

Plus I think there's still a gross confusion between FREE "HD Radio" & PAY "Digital Satellite Radio"
And how impressed can one be (if your NEW HD Radio equipped) vehicle has little to no HD Radio content to hear?

And with Clear Channels Investment in I-Heart Radio and a good 4G connection you can continue past the HD terrestrial fade out with no despair. - Gettalong little doggie!

KFSO, 92.9' s HD is up again- so back up to a grand total of 4.

I think the only reason 103.7 runs HD is because their HD-2 station has the old KRZR format.
Well I know now that I will NOT buy an HD radio, I have considered it before.

I agree! Why must you now pay for something that was once free?

I think HD radio went the way of the mini-disk: not a bad idea, just eclipsed by something better in short order. Mini-Disk fell to mp3 players and Hybrid Digital couldn't survive smartphones & streaming audio...

I wonder if HD is going to really make it .... or go the way of AM stereo?

AM Stereo - yet another good idea eclipsed by something better.

I don't understand the statement about "paying". The license fee is paid by the station/broadcaster to iBiquity for the transmission software.

When I saying paying for something that was once free, is that you have go buy a stereo or extra components, HD tuner etc.

When you need to replace a table radio or tuner consider one that is HD capable. I find the additional content available on HD in the DFW (Dallas/Ft.Worth) area to be worth the extra minimal cost. I picked up the little FM/HD portable pocket radio for under 40 bucks at Best Buy and as far as a pocket radio goes, it works well receiving the HD-2/HD-3/HD-4 services even in the suburbs. In DFW there are a variety of niche formats, and orphaned formats including "Oldies 55-70", "Rat Pack", "Indie-Rock", even "Smooth Jazz".

HD is something to consider that doesn't require a monthly subscription fee...

Didn't your parents ever tell you nothing in this world is free? :)

If I applied your logic above, I'd still have a flip phone and CRT SD TV.

Does anyone have a list or know how many stations are broadcasting an RDS Signal ?? I would think that more stations are using RDS than HD.
