How many stations in San Francisco are transmitting HD? Has anyone done polling/surveys in SF to see if people are buying and using the radios?<P ID="signature">______________

My understanding is that most will simulcast their analog program on the 1st HD channel, leaving the second (and maybe 3rd) for alternate programming. I believe that Bonneville, Susquhanna, and Clear Channel all have HD in place on their FMs, though not all are running a separate program yet. Outside of chief engineers, there don't seem to be many HD receivers in place yet. Boston Acoustics was supposed to have their HD Receptor out in June. Their website now says "Fall." One engineer I know said that the HD signal doesn't go nearly to the extent of the analog coverage area as projected, but is a noticably smaller footprint.

I have not had an HD Receiver in SF yet, but have been monitoring HD Radio in Chicago and Milwaukee.....

The HD signal does not go as far as the analog version. It is pretty close to the Grade "A" limits.

Those stations running HD-2 and HD-3... the main HD signal is surprisingly nice. A little more compression, but the high end is still better than analog. Your Larry Lunchbox listener will not hear the compression.

As far as receivers, I was TOLD that there are a bunch on ships on the way with teh HD Radios and are due here early September. I guess there was a chip that needed to be manufactured.

One other company that is selling lower cost HD Radios is Radiosophy www.radiosophy.com. Our company has 4 of them on order and could do a review when we get them.

Current List of HD Stations in California

Here's the list from Ibiquity's website:

http://www.ibiquity.com/cgi-bin/liststations?state=CA

"Multicasting" on their list denotes whether the station is currently multicasting, not whether they can multicast.

FYI, I have found this list to be a little inaccurate.

...But you didn't find it necessary to explain why? Have you contacted Ibiquity to let them know that they are "a little inaccurate" in their listing?

Don't post items like this unless you have the time to explain them.

No problem.....

I think it is more of an updating thing more than anything else....

Somem stations that are running IBOC are not listed, and others that are having technical issues are listed.

As i said it is more of an issue with Ibiquity keeping it up to date.

Re: Current List of HD Stations in California

There doesn't seem to be many radio stations multicastng.
