HD Radio in Tallahassee

Looking at the HD Thread concerning Clear Channel Panama City (WPAP/WFSY), I was wondering if Cumulus, Clear Channel, and any of the other radio operators in Tallahassee had plans to bring HD Radio to the Capital City.

I have a friend with an HD Radio which sounds great in other cities, but he uses XM here in Tallahassee due to the lack of HD. I find the technology interesting and it appears that it will be here to stay. I use XM as well, but if HD Radio came into town I would definitely give it a try.

I haven't hread anything if Tallahassee's Radio Stations going to HD yet but @ Best Buy in Tallahassee are selling those HD Radio for $99.99. That's all I know.

I imagine it will be a while before HD comes to town.

I don't believe any of the other operators besides CC or Cumulus have the capital to do it here. One
of the AMs just bought a new transmitter and replaced the unit with..another analog unit.

But..maybe someone will come along and surprise us.

If HD Radio comes to Tallahassee, hope it does well.  I can see your area getting HD Radio, way before mine.

I live in a small market, where Urban is king.  If my area does get HD Radio, that would shock me.

I don't expect HD radio to come to very poor and rual West Central Alabama, anytime soon.  Due to certain factors, HD Radio would be a dismal failure in this area. (This would include a lack of Jobs, a welfare/food stamp mentality and a low population)

If anyone does start up a HD radio station, in my area, I predict that WALX "Lazer 101" would be first.  They did speak of HD radio recently but said that it wasn't worth their expense to build such a station, at this time.

R.D.P. <><

P.S. Even if my radio project were to work out, I'd focus my energy on building just one FMer and then doing all I could to keep it going.
