HD Radio in the Great Northwest..

This may be a question for Bongwater.... >>

Anyone in Bellingham running HD? I am working on a project and could use some info..

106.5 KWPZ is an HD station.

Neither KISM or KAFE are HD. KUGS doesn't have HD. KZAZ and KWPZ are the only stations in the Bellingham area with it.

KMWS 89.7 FM Mount Vernon has HD. There's been talk of KSVR adding HD, but nothing seen yet.....

Update-I heard KAFE's TOH ID, a brand new one. Now it says "KAFE, KAFE-HD Bellingham". So there goes CHHR 104.3 in Whatcom and Skagit County thanks to the new HD/IBOC...

KAFE and KISM have both went HD.

I don't know why they even did. I think there might be two or three listeners to HD in Bellingham. Plus, get ready for IBOC hash interference in towns like White Rock and Surrey, as KAFE's HD tries to blow away CHHR closer than ever before...

Can't speak for B-Ham HD listeners but if one of my HD's is down I hear about it in pretty short order from listeners here in Seattle.

Well first, there's nothing really to listen to in Bellingham on HD Radio. The Seattle HDs don't come in at all and Vancouver/Victoria have NONE. It'll be a while yet.......

Everybody complains about HD radio content, why is anyone getting excited or worked up over it?

Besides, if you ask the average radio listener about HD radio they think it's satellite radio.

Any translators available in Bellingham to put the HD signals on? That's the only benefit outside of a (tragically hip) major market that I can find....

Probably nowhere. The NW WA market is about ready to explode. There's stations on almost every channel, and interference is prominent with Canadian stations. See CHHR/KAFE, CKYE/KISM, CJZN/KROH, etc. Those are close stations in a 200 khz span.
