HD RADIO LISTENERS in ATLANTA / WWVA HD 3

How many people in average do you think have HD Radio in Atlanta?
And do you think it would be a great idea to get an HD Radio for WWVA channels in Fayetteville, GA.?

Also, are there any mini stereo systems available with HD Radio built in that also have good bass?

Huh? Why would anyone in Fayetteville, Georgia be interested in hearing broadcasts from WWVA in Wheeling, West Virginia? Sorry, but that question doesn't make any sense. ???

As for the approximate (as opposed to average) number of people who have an HD radio in the Atlanta market; based on sales, figure that HD radio has a market penetration of about 0.8%. Now, that's being kind to the "fine" folks at Ibiquity because many buyers of HD radios don't even use them for that purpose - or are geeks like us. But, assuming the very highest number of likely listeners to HD:

The Atlanta market has 4,480,000 residents, so that would mean that about 35,800 people in that market have HD radios. From there, it gets uglier because a certain percentage don't use the HD radios all the time and some folks (like me) may own more than one. But, best case scenario, we're looking at a potential audience of 35,000 to 36,000 in that market.

Not very many, is it?

Clear Channel has a WWVA-FM 105.7 in Atlanta (Canton) now known as Wild 105.7

Ah, I see. Well, a little detail (like a '-FM') would have helped with the question because the original 50 kw WWVA 1170 from Wheeling is the one that most of us know.

As an answer to a thread somewhere long ago and far away, "Call Letters Do Matter".

Why wouldn't anyone expect those calls to stick with Wheeling W Va?

I'd hope they get lots of callers who think they're hearing Wheeling. :D

When they hear Jay-Z instead of evening religious sermons from Roy Masters, they'll know that something's up!! ;D

Funny though, because WWVA is a well known set of calls that's synonymous with Wheeling. Why would you plant the FM version on a suburban Atlanta rimshot? Imagine if we had WABC-FM, Manteno-Virginia Beach! That'd be something.
