HD Radio Multicasts in LA LA

Let's assume every FM in LA offered a additional stream. Just for fun, what would you love to see on the additional channel?

I'll take the first bait.

88.1 II: FM Standards

89.3 II: Progressive music shows

89.9 II: AAA

90.7 II: World Music

91.5 II Strictly classical

92.3 II Hurban

93.1 II Active Rock

93.5 II Only Old Skool Hip Hop/nothing past 1996.

93.9 II Classic Country

94.3 II La Rancherra FM(same for 105.5)

94.7 II Chill Music

95.1 II More Classic Country

95.5 II AAA

95.9 II Christian CHR or CCM Oldies

96.3 II I dunno. Any Ideas?

96.7 II A Spanish Jack FM

97.1 II: Liberal FM Talk Radio

97.5 II Entravision shouldn't even bother

97.9 II El Cucuy all day. Just kidding, how about Regional Mexican oldies?

98.3 II spainsh oldies from the 90s(same for 103.9)

98.7 II Totally 80s all day and not just the new wave stuff, but play Kenny Rogers, New Kids, Fresh Prince, Tone Loc, etc etc.

99.1 II Killer Oldies 24/7 programmed by Art Laboe

99.5 II: On 2nd thought, put the christian CHR here and put CCM oldies on 95.9 II.

99.9 II Dunno, super 70s?

100.3 II Urban AC. Hey, at least RO could get Tom Joyner on in LA without having to shell out 130 million for KJLH.

101.1 II: 70s. KRTH I seems to focus on too much 60s.

101.9 II Regional Mexican Oldies. Or Pilon all day to counteract El Cucuy all day.

102.3 II Gospel. With Gospel being a sunday success on KJLH, why not give it a 24/7 outlet?

102.7 II: Hit music from all over the world!

103.1 II: Steve Jones playing whatever he wants. 24/7.

103.5 II: AC Oldies from the 60s/70s.

104.3 II Dance Music from the 70s, 80s, 90s, and today. Groove FM

105.1 II: Already stated that this will be KKGO-FM

105.9 II Old Skool Radio programmed by Jeff G and DJ Rawn. Or Mabye Richard Humpty Vission gets a dance format on here? Or Mabye Kool Aid will be pocos pero loced out? Now play nice children.

106.3 II: I Radio. We're doing it on Pax TV, let's do it here. You buy time to do whatever the hell you want.

106.7 II KROQ II: The ROQ of the 80s(KM will be so happy!)

107.1 II: On 2nd thought, let Steve Jones wreck havoc here.

107.5 II: Classic Romantica? I dunno.

107.9 II: The worst for last. Unfortunetly, you DEFINETLY will not here anything progressive here. While Kyle and other christian youth wish for that hour program on Saturday Nights to be put on 24/7 on KWVE-II, the sad thing is, it won't happen. Count on Praise and Worship 24/7.

Ok gang, there's my crazy and cookie ideas. Laugh, cry, say I'm looney, or whatever. But it's only radio. And who knows? Mabye someone will actually shock me and bring some of these ideas to life on their 2nd sub channel!

This is Recuerdo already...

And so is this. Hits of the 70's through the 90's from all genres. That is Recuerdo.

Which genre? In regional, this is part of Recuerdo, which is Regional, pop and grupera oldies of 3 to 4 decades.

The only "alive" regional oldies are on Recuerdo, which the trades call regional anyway.

What about Spanish for non-Mexican listeners. On a second channel, one could cater to Salvadorans, for example. And there are many opportunities on the smaller signals to appeal to Chines, Korean, Thai, Russian, Persian and other groups.

By the way the program on Saturday nights is from 10pm-12midnight. It's really two hours instead of one. I do enjoy the praise and worship that KWVE plays, now if they did put a 24/7 channel, that would be nice but I kind of think that HDRadio will not be a hit.<P ID="signature">______________

Nice thought, but let's compare this to DTV...which can be seen and receivers are availble. Multicasting on DTV hasn't caught on at all, really. Most stations are running a HD upconvert and a SD channel. I think only PBS stations actually get the wisdom of running multi-channel HD.

So, until IBOC receivers are actually available to the general public, no ownership is going to mult-cast unless there are $$$$ in it.
