HD Radio needs help in Nashville

Whats the deal with 92.1? HD is not in sync with analog. And why is 102.5's party HD channel even on? No audio feed when radio switches to HD. Cant they afford an engineer? They could pay him/her with the electric bill savings by turning the HD with no audio feed off.

There is a nasty “digital delay” for the HD system that the US broadcasters settled on. Most stations have a “delay” in the “real” or analog feed to match up the two audios. Of course this means you can no longer use the “on the air” input for the headphones and monitor in the control room. One small station I have done some work for (and hope to do more in the future so I will not rat them out) uses the output of the HD monitor to feed the analog. There is a switch to feed the analog direct to the control board with instructions on how to turn off the HD in the equipment rack if needed. Until 15% or more of the car radios have HD do not look for any great effort is made to make most radio stations “HD” savvy. Until then make sure any HD receiver you buy has the ability to switch off the HD.

I have been disappointed in what formats have been offered as part of Nashville's HD 2 music formats. Since no one is doing a true HD2 Deep Tracks classic rock format, I was hoping someone would take up that cause. Last time I checked 105.9 HD2 was running a classic alternative type deal!

Speaking of some pretty good Deep Tracks" type HD2 station, WCSX 94.7 in Detroit is a pretty cool station. 97.1 WDVR HD2 Chicago is pretty good as well.

It would be nice if Clear Channel would put Club Phusion (from its CHR station in Tampa and on HD2 stations in a few markets) on in Nashville.
