HD Radio Qestion

HD Radio Qestion

If I brought a HD Radio @ Radio Shack will I get HD Radio stations around the Big Bend/Tallahassee area?? I know there no HD radio stations in Tallahassee and South Georiga. But there r some HD stations in Penascola and Orlando and Tampa and Jacksonville Florida. I dont think I wont be able to get them right??

Re: HD Radio Qestion

The only markets in Florida that have actual HD stations running are in Tampa, Orlando, Miami Ft Myers, West Palm Beach and Jacksonville. If Pensacola had any they would get them from Mobile, but they don't have any over there as well. You will not be able to get any of these stations in as they use same wattage as their regular analog counterpart. If I were you I would not buy an HD radio right now as it would be a waste of money since there are no stations in your area right now that are broadcasting HD. A website to check out is www.hdradio.com as it provides plenty of information about HD radio.

Re: HD Radio Qestion

Pensacola does have one. Our NPR affiliate WUWF 88.1 HD-2 does Folk music durring the day and AAA at night. WUWF broadcasts from a tower half-way between Pensacola and Fort Walton, so the HD channel proabably doesn't reach Mobile or Panama City. I'm not aware of any HD-2 channels coming out of Mobile.

Re: HD Radio Qestion

Doesn't WJLQ broadcast in high def as well?

Re: HD Radio Qestion

Hopefully some of the FMs will come out with HD Radio in Tally soon. This area has pretty limited pickings....more is better.

actually...the "HD" signal is on a different transmitter...at 10% the power of the
analog transmitter. The HD signal coverage is MUCH smaller than the analog
